NHL Betting Predictions December 17th

nhl betting tipsLast night didn’t go as planned and we lost both of our plays to drop the season record down to (68-64) for +7.55 units.  The rookie goaltenders ended up having poor nights, which cost us a couple units.  Tonight it’s a Saturday which means there are plenty of games to choose from so let’s find some sharp bets to get back in the win column.

Buffalo Sabres @ Pittsburgh Penguins

The Sabres have been amazing on the road this season (8-3-0) and although they haven’t been playing their best hockey of late they did win last night over the Maple Leafs and will look to carry that momentum into Pittsburgh tonight.  The Penguins lost in Ottawa last night so both teams are playing the second of back to back games, but the smart money is on the Sabres because of the much larger payout and their ability to win games on the road.

New Jersey Devils @ Montreal Canadiens

The Devils are playing their second of back to backs, but they have won 4 of a previous 7 games on the second of back to back nights so they have shown they will have some left in the tank.  The Habs have been a brutal 5-6-6 at home this season and combine this with the fact that the Devils are big dogs according to the bookies and you have to come to the realization that the Devils is the smart play tonight.

St. Louis Blues @ Nashville Predators

The Blues have been playing some great hockey, but then again so have the Predators as each team is on a four game winning streak.  A lot of the Blues success however has to be attributed to Brian Elliot and it’s Halak who gets the nod in net tonight.  Halak is 5-7-3 on the season, and hasn’t played in over a week so based on the goaltending and the home ice advantage I’m taking the Predators in this pick’em game.

Play: Predators -105 (5Dimes.com)

Washington Capitals @ Colorado Avalanche

The Capitals seem to be starting to turn things around and there aren’t many better teams to continue to improve offensively against than the Colorado Avalanche.  I expect a big game out of the Capitals stars tonight and for the team to get another win under Dale Hunter.

Play: Capitals -123 (5Dimes.com)
