It’s been a long All-Star break and unfortunately I didn’t have time to get my picks up last night and I’m getting to these ones a little bit late. That being said I found most of the value in the later games so you still have a bit of time to place your wagers.
Vancouver Canucks @ Phoenix Coyotes
The Vancouver Canucks defeated a strong Dallas team last night 4-1, while the Coyotes blew a 3-0 lead on the Sharks to lose in San Jose 5-3. The Coyotes also had their game finish a couple hours after the Coyotes and those extra couple hours rest may play a factor in tonights game. The Coyotes just haven’t looked the same for the past several games losing 5 of their last 7 and blowing the lead like they did can’t do anything to help their confidence. The Canucks on the other hand were having some trouble coming into the break, but they look to have regrouped after resting and when they are fully healthy they should be a top 3 team in this league. Luongo is starting in goal and I expect a win from the Canucks tonight.
My Pick: Vancouver Canucks -140 (Sportsbook.com)
Los Angeles Kings @ Edmonton Oilers
The Kings played last night and lost a hard fought 1-0 battle against the Wild in a shootout. That was the Kings first shootout loss of the season after going 5-0 to start, while it was the Wilds first shootout victory after starting the season 0-4. The Kings had a bad span of 10 losses in 12 games, but had seemed to get back on track winning three games heading into the All-Star break. This hard fought defensive battle against a strong Wild team shouldn’t be considered a step backward and I expect the Kings to come out strong tonight. Quick is back in net and even though Bernier pulled out the shutout last night, this should help the Kings confidence. The Oilers are 2-7-1 in their last 10 and the only reason they are considered only slight underdogs in this game is because they did not play last night. That being said, the All-Star break should have rejuvenated many players and playing two nights in a row when you are fully fresh to start shouldn’t be too tough for the Kings.
My Pick: LA Kings -135 (Bookmaker.com)
