NHL Betting Predictions December 6th

Minnesota Wild logoWe started off the week well with our single play on the Senators last night.  The Sens just have a knack for scoring goals in the third period this year; they have been very fun to watch.  The season record is now (57-54) for +3.05 units.  Let’s continue this week with some more wins!

Tampa Bay Lightning @ New York Islanders

The Lightning lost a tight battle to the Senators last night, which brought their losing streak to 4 games.  Combine this with the fact that their road record is 4-9-2 on the season and they are playing the second of back to back games and you will see that the Islanders should be bigger favourites tonight.  The Isles are 5-6-2 at home and have been playing good hockey winning 3 of their last 4 games.  The Islanders are underrated due to their place in the standings when in reality they’ve played the least number of games in the East.

Play: Islanders -110 (5Dimes.com)

Minnesota Wild @ San Jose Sharks

The Wild are first in the league and they have shown no signs of slowing down.  Minnesota have won another 4 in a row and are 7-3-2 on the road this season.  The Sharks have been stumbling slightly of late winning only 1 of their last 4 games (in a shootout over the struggling Habs) and yet they are still huge favourites to win this game.  It’s time to give credit where credit is due, the Sharks are only 7-5-1 at home this season and the Wild have a much better chance to win this game than their odds indicate.

NHL Betting Predictions December 5th

Senators logoI took Sunday off again because I couldn’t find any strong plays, on Saturday I went 1 for 3 and lost 1 unit, which brings the season record to (56-54) for +2.05 units.  Tonight I’m only making one play, but hopefully we can start the week off with a win and start another hot streak.

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Ottawa Senators

The Lightning are on a 3 game losing streak and are 4-8-2 on the road this season.  Meanwhile the Senators are on a 2 game losing streak of their own, but they are returning home after a 3 game road trip, and they have a 6-4-1 record at the Scotiabank Place this season.  Craig Anderson is getting the nod in net, while Roloson, who has struggled this season with a 3.51 GAA and .887 save percentage is in goal for the Lightning.  The fact that this is a pick’em game at 5Dimes seems strange to me as looking at the numbers the Senators should be the favourites (which they are at every other sportsbook I looked at).

NHL Betting Predictions December 3rd

Senators logoTook the night off yesterday after a disappointing Thursday night when I went 0-1 after the Senators blew their 1 goal lead with 5 minutes left to lose in regulation.  The season record now stands at (55-52) for +3.05 units.  Our profits are dwindling so tonight is important to finish with a positive return.

Ottawa Senators @ Washington Capitals

The Caps have been playing very poorly lately and are currently on a four game losing streak.  Their home record is still a very strong 8-4-1, but until they get a win under new head coach Dale Hunter I see them as a weak team that it is smart to wager against.  The Caps have lost their last 3 home games as well and have only scored 1 goal in each of their past 3 games.  They are a struggling team and the Senators should be able to take advantage of this as pretty big underdogs tonight.

Play: Senators +150 (5Dimes.com)

New York Rangers @ Tampa Bay Lightning

The Rangers are back on a roll having won their last 4 games, while the Lightning have lost 2 straight.  The Rangers are a legit team this year and I expect them to win this game.

Play: Rangers +100 (5Dimes.com)

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Boston Bruins

The Maple Leafs and Bruins played a couple nights ago with the Bruins winning 6-3.  The game was tight though and the score doesn’t tell the whole story.  The Bruins should win again tonight, but with the odds the smart money is on the Maple Leafs.

On top of that I have made a deal with SportsInteraction.com for all Canadian visitors to my site.  If you sign up for an account at Sports Interaction, not only will you receive the 100% matching bonus up to $125, but you will also receive a $20 guaranteed bet on your first NHL moneyline wager.  This is a perfect game to place your free $20 bet because the return is high and if you lose the bet you get the $20 back anyways.

I will have more information on this promotion later.  More information and the sign up page can be found here.

NHL Betting Predictions December 1st

Senators logoLast night started off well with a big win for the Bruins, but the Habs and Devils couldn’t get it done in the later games which left us 1-2 for -1.14 units on the night.  The season record is now (55-51) for +4.05 units.  I’m only going with 1 play tonight because the lines seem to be pretty spot on and I’m not looking to force anything.

Ottawa Senators @ Dallas Stars

The Senators are on one of the winning streaks that they have come to be known for.  They have won 2 games in a row and look to make it 3 against a Stars team that got off to a fast start, but have since lost some of their touch.  Dallas has won just 3 of their last 10 games and have been finding it difficult to score goals.  The Senators haven’t had any trouble scoring goals lately, but playing against a struggling offensive team should help them in their own end.  Kari Lehtonen, who is single handedly responsible for a good portion of the Stars wins this season is out with an injury, which leaves Andrew Raycroft to man the nets for the Stars.  Raycroft is 1-5-0 on the season, and I expect the Senators, who will take a lot of shots, to put enough by him tonight to win this game.

NHL Betting Predictions November 30th

nhl betting tipsWe broke the 8 game losing streak last night when the Senators came through with another big 3rd period.  The season record is now (54-49) for +5.19 units.  Tonight there are 5 games in the NHL and I like plays on 3 of them.

Boston Bruins @ Toronto Maple Leafs

The Bruins came back after their winning streak was ended with a big win over the Winnipeg Jets.  The Bruins absolutely crushed the Leafs in Toronto in their last meeting 7-0, but I expect this game to be much tighter.  Thomas is likely the starter for the Bruins tonight and he has won his last 8 starts, only allowing 13 goals against in those games.  The Bruins are a superior team and I expect them to show this against the division rival Maple Leafs tonight.

Play: Bruins -135 (5Dimes.com)

New Jersey Devils @ Colorado Avalanche

The Devils are 7-5-0 on the road this year and the Avalanche are 4-9-0 at home.  The Avs have only won 4 of their last 16 games and I expect them to keep this pace for the rest of the season.  The Devils are a much better team and although Brodeur is starting in net tonight I still expect them to win this game easily.

Play: Devils -109 (5Dimes.com)

Montreal Canadiens @ Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks have lost 7 in a row and 13 of their last 14 games.  The Habs haven’t been playing poorly lately, but they have been on the wrong end of some close games against strong teams such as the Penguins, Flyers and Bruins.  I expect Montreal to take full advantage of a weak Ducks team and win this game handily.  It’s surprising that a team that has performed so poorly of late is still in a pick’em game solely based on the fact they are playing at home.

NHL Betting Predictions November 29th

Senators logoAnother awful night has brought on my biggest cold streak of the year.  Follow my picks with caution at the moment because I am a streaky predictor and I have lost my last 8 wagers!  I’m taking a single game tonight to try to turn things around.  The season record is still in the positive, but much lower than it was a week ago: (53-49) for +4.09 units.

Ottawa Senators @ Winnipeg Jets

The Jets have a 5-3-0 home record this season and have actually been playing fairly well of late winning 4 of their last 6 games, including their last 3 home games.  That being said they did lose 2 games on their recent 3 game road trip and were defeated 4-1 by Ottawa earlier this year.  The Senators have also been playing well lately, especially if you remove their 6-3 loss to the Penguins.  Ottawa has been a very streaky team this season and a recent win over the Hurricanes may have started another winning streak for the club.  This game could really go either way so I’m taking the Senators for the added payout and because I feel they are a stronger team all around than the Jets, even without home ice advantage.

NHL Betting Predictions November 28th

Tampa Bay Lightning logoAnother loss last night continued the horrible weekend where went 0-6, losing 7.15 units.  The season record is now (53-47) for +6.18 units after that hit.  Back to the grind tonight, looking to turn this most recent cold streak into an even bigger hot streak.

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Minnesota Wild

The Lightning haven’t been great on the road this season (4-6-2), but they are on a two game winning streak after winning both home and away games against the Panthers.  The Wild are playing their second of back-to-back games and their 3rd game in 4 nights.  They lost their last 2 games by large margins against the Flames and Oilers, two below average teams in the West.  It seems to me that the Wild are starting to look like the team we expected them to be this season.  The Lightning should be able to pull out a win against a tired Wild team.

Play: Lightning -101 (BetOnline.com)

San Jose Sharks @ Los Angeles Kings

The Sharks are coming off a tight 3-2 loss to the Canucks on Saturday and the team hasn’t lost 2 games in a row since their 3 game losing streak from games 2 to 4 this season.  The Sharks are just too good this year and the Kings have been struggling, posting a 6-6-1 home record, compared to the Sharks 7-2-0 record on the road.  I expect the Sharks to come out firing tonight in order to put their loss to the Canucks behind them.

NHL Betting Predictions November 25th

nhl betting tipsYesterday was Thanksgiving in the USA and as a result there were no NHL games played.  I never like a day without some NHL hockey to follow and I don’t really understand why some Canadian teams weren’t in action last night.  Anyways, on Wednesday I went 2 for 2 with the picks here on the site and my 5 star “Game of the Week” pick also came through with a win.  For those of you who didn’t receive the exclusive pick, I took the Canucks over the Avalanche and they won the game handily 3-0.  To make sure you get the next 5 star pick be sure to sign up to the NHL Betting Tips mailing list (head to the homepage and sign up in the top right hand corner).  Those 3 units bring the season to date record to (53-41) for +13.33 units.  Let’s get back to that 15 unit mark on this busy Friday night.

I’m making 5 plays tonight, which I think makes this my busiest NHL betting night of the season.

Detroit Red Wings @ Boston Bruins

The Red Wings are on a 3 game winning streak, but their last two wins came over a couple of sub par teams in the Ducks and the Flames.  The Bruins are riding a 10 game losing streak and seem to have forgotten how to lose after their horrible start to the season.  Boston hasn’t been winning as convincingly lately with a shootout win over the Sabres on Wednesday and a 1-0 win over the Habs on Monday, but they have won their last 6 home games and I expect them to continue this winning streak at home tonight.

Play: Bruins 125 (5Dimes.com)

Montreal Canadiens @ Philadelphia Flyers

The Habs have been playing quite well lately even if they aren’t getting the results.  Montreal has won 3 of their last 5 games with their 2 losses coming by one goal in tight affairs that could have gone either way.  Scott Gomez was injured in their last game (vs ‘Canes) and the team rallied to come back and win in a shootout.  The loss of Gomez should actually help this team as he has been more of a liability than a help this season.  The Flyers have struggled over the past few games, playing 3 games against weak teams and only coming out with 1 win (in overtime).  Jagr is also out for the Flyers which hurts them and their top lines productivity.

Play: Canadiens +135 (SportsInteraction.com)

Edmonton Oilers @ Minnesota Wild

The Oilers have been up and down this year, which can be expected from a young team.  They killed the Predators 6-2 in their last outing, but have lost 5 of their last 7 games, and after their 9-2 shellacking of the Blackhawks they went out and got beat 4-1 by a struggling Stars team.  The Wild are riding high on a 5 game winning streak and I expect them to shut the Oilers down tonight with solid defense and goaltending.

Play: Wild -120 (5Dimes.com)

New York Rangers @ Washington Capitals

The Rangers winning streak ended and now they have lost 2 road games in a row (Habs and Panthers).  The Capitals have won 2 in a row and are 8-1-1 at home this season.  I expect a Caps victory.

Play: Capitals -145 (5Dimes.com)

Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins

The Senators haven’t played since last Sunday and they get to come back on the road against a Penguins team that has a healthy Crosby and Malkin.  That being said Pittsburgh already showed they can lose with these additions when they lost in overtime to the Blues in their last game.  It will be tough for the Sens to pull out a victory, but at +205 odds the smart money is still on them winning a tight one.

NHL Betting Predictions November 23rd

Bruins LogoOur single play on the Blues last night didn’t pan out.  It was a back and forth game, but the Kings got the better of St Louis with a late third period goal.  That loss brings the season record to (50-41) for +10.33 units.  I’m in a little bit of a cold spell since reaching the +15 unit plateau, but tonight there are 26 teams in action and I plan to turn things around.

***I will also be sending out a Game of the Night pick tonight exclusively to everyone on the NHL Betting Tips mailing list.  If you are not on the list sign up before 4pm EST to receive the pick.  To sign up return to the home page and sign up for the FREE PICKS in the top right hand corner.

Boston Bruins @ Buffalo Sabres

The Bruins are unstoppable.  They have won 9 in a row and have literally dominated the majority of those games.  The Sabres are likely the Bruins biggest rivals so you can expect them to be up for this game and ready to dominate another one.  Buffalo hasn’t been too shabby themselves with Enroth going 7-2-0 this season.  He will likely get the start again with Miller sidelined with concussion symptoms.  The Sabres are also only 5-6-0 at home, while the Bruins are 4-2-0 on the road.  I don’t expect the Bruins winning streak to stop before double digits.

Play: Bruins -117 (5Dimes.com)

Nashville Predators @ Minnesota Wild

The Wild are only slight favourites in this one, which is strange to me for many reasons.  Number 1, the Preds just played last night and were destroyed by a young Oilers team.  Number 2, the Wild are currently the top team in the NHL in terms of points per game.  Number 3, the Wild have been very strong at home posting a 7-2-1 record to this point.  Everything points towards the Wild winning this game and the moneyline odds don’t paint them as big favourites at all.

Play: Wild -115 (5Dimes.com)
