Last night we took a little hit going 1 for 3 and losing 1.04 units. That loss brings the season record to (50-40) for +11.60 units. After a busy Monday in the NHL tonight we have an uncharacteristically quiet Tuesday night with only 3 games in action.
Los Angeles Kings @ St. Louis Blues
The Blues lost to Minnesota in overtime in their last outing, but the Wild are currently in first place in the league and have been finding ways to beat top teams. Prior to that the Blues were on a 3 game home winning streak and I expect them to return to this form when they return to St. Louis tonight. The Blues are 7-1-1 at home this season! The Kings on the other hand are 4-2-2 on the road and lost to the Red Wings on Saturday. That being said the Kings were also on a 3 game winning streak prior to losing on Saturday, but 2 of those games were at home and 2 were against a weak Ducks team. Halak is confirmed in net for the Blues tonight and he hasn’t been great this season with just a 3-6-1 record and a 2.52 GAA. He has what it takes to play well though and I expect him to turn his season around very soon.

Yesterday I took the day off, but on Saturday we went 1 for 2, for a profit of 0.20 units. This brings the season long record to (49-38) for +12.64 units.
Boston Bruins @ Montreal Canadiens
The Bruins have been unstoppable winning their last 8 games to put their horrible start behind them. The Bruins are arguably the best team in the NHL, with a +25 goal differential. They haven’t played many away games, only (3-2-0), but they have the personnel to win in Montreal tonight. The Habs recently put an end to the Rangers long winning streak and will look to play the role as streak busters again today, but the Bruins are a better team than the Rangers and should be able to come out on top in this one.
Play: Bruins -133 (5Dimes.com)
Edmonton Oilers @ Dallas Stars
The Oilers dummied the top team in the NHL, the Chicago Blackhawks, 9-2 on Saturday night and will carry that momentum into Dallas for tonights game with the struggling Stars. Dallas started 11-3-0, but have since lost 5 games in a row. The Oilers haven’t been playing great, except for the big win over Chicago, but their young players should be enough to get them past a Stars team that is starting to look more like the team people expected preseason.
Play: Oilers +125 (BetOnline.com)
Calgary Flames @ Columbus Blue Jackets
The Flames are (4-4-0) on the road, while the Blue Jackets are currently (3-6-1) at home. Each team won their last game, but at this point in the season the Blue Jackets are just scrambling for any point they can get to keep them somewhat respectable. The Flames can’t leave points on the table against the bottom teams in the league like Columbus and I expect the Flames to win tonight’s game.

Last night didn’t turn out very well for us. I took two slight road favourites who have been hot and each lost by 3 goals. The loss on the night was -2.26 units, which brings the season record to (48-37) for +12.44 units. It’s a light Saturday in Saturday terms, but we found 2 solid plays.
New York Rangers @ Montreal Canadiens
The Rangers are riding a 7 game winning streak, which includes 2 road wins and they head into Montreal to face a Canadiens team that is coming off a 4-3 home loss to the Islanders. Yet it’s a pick’em game. Well looking at the trends and stats how can you not take the Rangers and expect them to keep playing like the best team in the NHL.
Play: Rangers -105 (BetOnline.com)
Phoenix Coyotes @ Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres played last night and squeaked out a 1-0 win in Carolina. The team now heads back to Buffalo to host the Coyotes. Phoenix is 5-2-1 on the road this season, while the Sabres are just 5-5-0 at home. The Sabres are 2-1 in back-to-back games this season, but in their last one they got demolished by Boston 6-2. The Coyotes are too big of dogs in this one so the smart money is definitely on them.

Last night we basically went 1 for 3, but 2 for 5 if you include the hedge. All-in-all last night I lost 1.10 units, which brings the season record to (48-35) for +14.70 units. The 15 unit milestone was short lived, but I will hopefully get back to it tonight. There are only 3 games taking place, but I’m betting on 2 of them.
Dallas Stars @ Colorado Avalanche
The Stars have been in a bit of a free fall lately, losing their last 3 games, but the remedy could well be the Colorado Avalanche. The Avs are on a 3 game losing skid of their own, and they have only won 1 game in their last 8 (an overtime win against the Islanders). The Avs are now performing as expected, which is as one of the bottom few teams in the league. The Avalanche also played last night so everything is pointing towards a Stars win in this one. Lehtonen is confirmed between the pipes and the Stars should end their losing streak tonight.
Play: Stars -115 (5Dimes.com)
Chicago Blackhawks @ Calgary Flames
The Blackhawks head into Calgary tonight to play the lowly Flames. Chicago has won 4 straight and you can tell this is a team that is taking regular season games seriously this year after they backed into the playoffs last season. Calgary is 3-5-1 at home and they will be outclassed tonight by the Blackhawks. It’s surprising that the Hawks are such small favourites, but I’m going to pounce on that line because the difference in quality between these two teams means that the Blackhawks win this game the vast majority of the time.

LA pulled off a shootout win for us last night! That’s another unit in the bank bringing the season long record to (46-32) for +15.80 units. That’s the 15 unit mark! Hotstreak! No writeups yet, busy today.

3 for 3 last night! That is four winning nights in a row. I think that qualifies as a hot streak, seeing as I’ve gone 7 for 8 in those days! Last night we brought in another 3.4 units of profit, which brings the season total to (45-32) for +14.80 units. So close to that 15 unit milestone, let’s get there with our single play tonight!
Anaheim Ducks @ Los Angeles Kings
The Ducks have been horrible on the road this season. They just finished up their 3 game homestand, winning only 1 of those games, which isn’t good enough, especially after losing their previous 5 games on the road. Their 7 game road trip early in the season only got them 1 win and they are now 2-4-3 on the road this year. What’s worse is they just cannot score on the road (1.56 goals per game on the road). They will be in tough to score tonight against a stingy Kings team that has given up the 5th least goals/game to this point in the season. Jonathan Quick has been great this season and he gets the nod in net for the Kings. LA is a better team than they have shown to this point in the season and they should win this game.

The Sabres play wasn’t looking good after the second period in Montreal with Buffalo down 2-0, but the Sabres were able to manage 2 goals in the third and win in a shootout. Tonight there are several games on tap and I have found 3 plays that I like. It’s been a while since I’ve made this many plays, but it seems like the cold streak has snapped and we are back to our winning ways. The season to date record now sits at (42-32) for +11.40 units.
New York Rangers @ New York Islanders
The Rangers are on a tear winning their last 6 games, while the Islanders have dropped their last 3 and 9 of their last 10. That being said the Islanders have been alright at home this season (4-3-1) but 3 of those wins came in their 4 game home stand to begin the season. The Rangers are (4-2-2) on the road, but they have won their last 2 games on the road and 2 of their 4 road losses came in Sweden to start the season. The Rangers are a superior team than the Islanders and they should be bigger favourites in this one.
Play: Rangers -118 (5Dimes.com)
Detroit Red Wings @ St. Louis Blues
The Red Wings have been extremely streaky this season. They began the season winning 5 in a row, then lost 6 in a row and are now on a 4 game winning streak. That being said each win of the most recent streak came at home and the Red Wings now travel to St Louis. They have gone (2-3-0) on the road this season. The Blues have been playing great hockey of late and are (5-1-1) at home this season.
Play: Blues +100 (5Dimes.com)
Ottawa Senators @ Calgary Flames
The Sens are another streaky team. They had a 4 game losing streak, which they follwed up with a 6 game winning streak and a 5 game losing streak. They broke the most recent streak in Toronto and now look to continue on a new winning streak in Calgary. Ottawa has gone (3-5-0) on the road this season, which isn’t horrible, while the Flames are (3-4-1) at home for a similar record. The Flames are a weak team this year and I can see this game going either way so the smart money is on the Sens.
Play: Senators +140 (SportsInteraction.com)

The Flyers came through for us last night in my lone play, which brings the season long record to (41-32) for +10.40 units. We are back above 10 units! Tonight there are only three games in the NHL and I like one play.
Buffalo Sabres @ Montreal Canadiens
The Sabres are coming off of a big 6-2 loss to the Bruins on Saturday, which ended their 4 game winning streak. The Sabres have been solid on the road this season (5-2-0) and will come out flying to avoid dropping two games in a row to division rivals. The Habs haven’t been great at home (2-4-2), but they are on a two game winning streak (although these are both overtime games on the road). The Canadiens just haven’t been able to find any rhythm at home this season and I don’t expect them to find it against this solid Sabres team tonight.

This is going to be a very quick post because I’m actually in a car at the moment driving home from a weekend out of town. Last night our two favourites won, while the Wild got thumped by the Kings, which left us finishing the night up a unit to bring the season record to (40-32) for +9.40 units.
Philadelphia Flyers @ Florida Panthers
The Flyers are 4-1-1 on the road this season and have a better team than the Panthers all around. Florida has been playing well but their home record (2-1-3) is lacking. Philadelphia should win this game as they continue their tour through the South East division.

Last night our two dogs lost, while the Rangers continued their winning ways with a win against the Hurricanes. This lost unit brings the season record to (38-31) for +8.40 units. It’s another big Saturday in the NHL so I have a few plays:
Buffalo Sabres @ Boston Bruins
The Sabres played last night and they were able to pull out a 5-1 victory against the Senators, but they were outshot 37-21 and that few of shots won’t be enough to score that many goals on Tim Thomas. The Bruins have been on a tear winning their last 4 games convincingly and a tired Sabres team should be no trouble for the Bruins tonight.
Play: Bruins -145 (5Dimes.com)
Tampa Bay Lightning @ St. Louis Blues
Tampa Bay have won 3 straight, but the Blues looked good in their two games under Hitchcock so far and the talent on the team should start showing more. The Blues just need some better goaltending out of Halak, but the team has been good at home this season, while the Lightning have been sub par on the road.
Play: Blues -137 (5Dimes.com)
Minnesota Wild @ Los Angeles Kings
Josh Harding is back in net for the Wild tonight in LA. He has a 4-0-1 record on the season with a 1.18 GAA and .965 save percentage. He should be able to continue with his low GAA tonight as the Kings haven’t been scoring well this season. This should be a low scoring affair, which could go either way, so the Wild as dogs is a good bet.
