No plays last night, but we went 2-1 on Saturday for +1.57 units, bringing the season record to (27-18) for +10.16 units! Tonight there is a hedging opportunity if you act fast in the Predators vs Blackhawks game!
San Jose Sharks @ New York Rangers
The Sharks are riding a 5 game winning streak and don’t look like they are letting up any time soon. The Rangers have had trouble scoring goals and this will be no different against the Sharks.
Play: Sharks -128 (5Dimes.com)
Nashville Predators @ Chicago Blackhawks (Hedging Opportunity)
It is very rare to find a hedging opportunity like this in the NHL, but 5Dimes has been having such competitive lines this year and Sports Interaction has been giving great underdog lines that it was only a matter of time. If you bet $155 on the Blackhawks at 5Dimes.com you win $100 if they pull out a victory. If you bet $100 on the Predators you win $165 if they pull out a victory. In this scenario you can not lose, but if the Preds win you are up $10. This is exactly what I will be doing. You should as well, with as much money as you can afford at these odds because it’s a no lose situation.
These are each 1 unit plays for me like every other play this year as to not skew the season to date record, but finding hedging opportunities like this can be very profitable.
***EDIT*** The hedging opportunity has passed. Sports Interaction has adjusted their odds. I expect more hedging opportunities throughout the year from these 2 sportsbooks so I strongly advise signing up accounts at both www.5Dimes.com and www.SportsInteraction.com!

Heading to the golf course so write ups should follow later. Probably won’t be one for the Sens game because its a matinee, but I like that play. 1 for 3 last night lost a little over a unit, hopefully win it back tonight. Let’s have another big Saturday. Went 4 for 4 last weekend.

The hot streak is still alive. After a little blip in the radar Wednesday night we were back on track going 3 for 3 last night! Those wins bring the season record to (24-15) for +9.79 units! It’s going to be hard to continue this pace for the rest of the season, but we should be able to continue building over the next 70 games. Tonight it’s a bit of a slow night with just 4 games on tap, but I like 3 of the lines again. I’m making a few more plays than I normally would, but when you are on a hot streak it’s important to ride it out because you are seeing the games more clearly. If I lose a few nights in a row you will see me start to pick fewer games as I try to regain confidence.
Chicago Blackhawks @ Carolina Hurricanes
The Blackhawks have been very good this year, their record is currently (5-1-2) with 2 of the 3 losses coming in a shootout. Their one regulation loss was their first game of the year when Kari Lehtonen stood on his head stopping 37 of 38 shots. The Hurricanes are on a 3 game losing streak and I don’t expect this to end tonight against one of the top teams in the NHL. Corey Crawford is the confirmed starter for the Blackhawks tonight and as long as he plays a steady game the Blackhawks should outplay the ‘Canes enough to get a win.
Play: Blackhawks -125 (BetOnline.com)
San Jose Sharks @ Detroit Red Wings
The Sharks are riding a 3 game winning streak (3 for 3 with Havlat), while the Red Wings have faultered after a great start losing 2 in a row, the most recent loss giving the Blue Jackets their first win of the season. The Sharks have a better all around team than the Red Wings and they will continue to be very focused as they remain at the bottom of the Pacific division.
Play: Sharks +112 (BetOnline.com)
St. Louis Blues @ Calgary Flames
The Blues ride a 3 game winning streak into Calgary, which includes big wins over strong teams Vancouver and Philadelphia. Calgary is not a strong team this year and I expect them to finish near the bottom of the Western Conference. The Blues are playing too well and they will be ready to build on their 3-0 win over the Canucks as they continue on their trip across Western Canada.

Lost almost a full unit last night, which brings the 9 game winning streak to an end. Bounce back night tonight. My season long record now sits at (21-15) for +6.79 units. Here are tonights predictions, no time for write ups today.
Florida Panthers @ Ottawa Senators
The Sens are riding a 3 game win streak and looking to get back to .500.
Play: Senators -105 (BetOnline.com)
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Nashville Predators
The Preds should be bigger favourites in this one.
Play: Predators -105 (BetOnline.com)
Los Angeles Kings @ Dallas Stars
The Kings are going back to Jonathan Quick tonight who is riding an impressive shutout streak.
Play: Kings -110 (BetOnline.com)

We can’t seem to lose! Another 3 successful wagers last night, which brings our winning streak to 9 wins in a row! Wowsers, let’s keep this roll going. My season record to date is now (20-13) for +7.74 units! There are three games in the NHL and I like a play on each of them, which doesn’t happen very often.
Philadelphia Flyers @ Montreal Canadiens
The Flyers are 3-0-0 on the road this season and have looked very good, defeating the Maple Leafs on Monday with 2 goals from Jagr. This is the first of back-to-back games for the Flyers and they couldn’t ask for a better team to play than the Habs. Last in the Eastern Conference with just 4 points in 8 games the Canadiens have looked bad to start the season (which is what I expect from them every year, but I’m finally right on that topic this year). The Flyers aren’t even huge favourites in this one so it’s a smart bet to take Philly.
Play: Flyers -130 (5Dimes.com)
Colorado Avalanche @ Calgary Flames
I had the Avs pegged to finish last in the league this year, but they have been proving me wrong so far and now I expect them to keep doing so. The Avs are 6-0-0 on the road this season and head into Calgary to face a mediocre Flames team that has only won 1 of 4 games at home this season. Yet somehow the Avs are the underdogs.
Play: Avalanche +110 (5Dimes.com)
St. Louis Blues @ Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks lost a tight battle in Edmonton last night and now return home to face the Blues. St. Louis has a strong young team who will be ready to do battle with the Stanley Cup finalists. The Canucks have not looked great so far this season and playing a decent team outside of their weak division may prove more difficult than some expect.
Play: Blues +135 (5Dimes.com)

Another 2 wins for us last night in a couple of close games to keep the hot streak alive. My season record is now (17-13) for +4.71 units. Tuesday’s are generally the third biggest night of the week in the NHL and tonight is no different. I did my research and found 3 lines that I like out of tonight’s games.
Pittsburgh Penguins @ New York Islanders
The Penguins are on a 3 game winning streak and may have Malkin back in the lineup tonight. On the flip side the Islanders have lost 2 straight and are starting to look like the team we expect them to be this year. The Pens continue to show they are a very deep team, while winning without their top 2 players. It’s no guarantee that Malkin will be back tonight, but if he is that should give them a boost and even if he is not they should still have an advantage in this game.
Play: Penguins -125 (BetOnline.com)
San Jose Sharks @ Nashville Predators
The Sharks are 2-0-0 since getting Havlat back from injury and 2-1-0 with Antii Niemi in net this season. The Sharks will dominate this game, the question is whether they can get enough pucks past Pekka Rinne, who has been his dominant self this year. I think they will.
Play: Sharks -130 (BetOnline.com)
Dallas Stars @ Phoenix Coyotes
Kari Lehtonen is the confirmed starter for tonight’s game and that is reason enough to pick the Stars tonight in Phoenix. These teams are pretty comparable skill wise, but Lehtonen has been amazing this year posting at 6-0-0 record with a .957 save percentage and a 1.48 GAA, and I expect nothing less from this star tonight.

Saturday was a great day for me, with each of my 4 NHL predictions coming through, 3 of them being dogs. That (4-0) night for +5.16 units brings the season record to (15-13) for +2.56 units. There was only 1 game in the NHL last night and I decided to stay away from it, but we are back with 3 games to choose from tonight and I like two of the lines.
Florida Panthers @ Montreal Canadiens
The Panthers have been playing fairly well so far this season having gone (4-3-0), while the Canadiens are sitting with just 4 points after 7 games. Peter Budaj is in net tonight for the Habs, and although he isn’t the quality of Carey Price, this should be a good move for the Canadiens seeing as Price has not been his best of late. Brian Campbell and Kris Versteeg are making Tallon look like the moves he made in the offseason were for the best and I expect this new group of Panthers to continue to play well and stick around .500 for most of the season.
Play: Panthers +115 (5Dimes.com)
New York Rangers @ Winnipeg Jets
The Rangers have only 2 wins this season, but they are underachieving at the moment and just having difficulty scoring goals. The Jets might be just what the doctor ordered in that department as they have given up the second most goals against in the league this season. The Jets have been good at home, but I still think the Rangers are a better team and they should have a better chance at winning this game tonight.
Play: Rangers -115 (5Dimes.com)

The Sharks dominated play last night outshooting the Devils 41 to 19, but they ended up just getting the shootout victory instead of the puckline. Those of you who weren’t quite as confident as me would have cashed, but Hedberg played a great game to keep the Devils in it. Luckily, the home total goals bet won so I broke even on the night and am now (11-13) for -2.60 units. I think I’m 3 for 3 on those home vs away total goals bets this year too, I will keep playing them.
San Jose Sharks vs Boston Bruins
The Sharks played last night pulling out a win in a shootout in a game they dominated in New Jersey. This will only bet the Sharks 6th game of the season and they should still be rested and energized enough to not have the back-to-back games affect them as much. The Sharks will still be desperate to win games and Havlat should get going a little more tonight.
Play: Sharks +125 (SportsInteraction.com)
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Montreal Canadiens
One of the biggest rivalries in sports. The Maple Leafs just look like a better team this season and the Habs have been troubled with injuries. A play on the Leafs tonight is the smart thing to do.
Play: Maple Leafs +121 (BetOnline.com)
New Jersey Devils @ Pittsburgh Penguins
The Devils just lost a heart breaker last night to San Jose and now they travel to Pittsburgh. Even without their stars the Pens are still a top team in the NHL and they should be able to outplay the Devils and get the win tonight.
Play: Penguins -154 (BetOnline.com)
Colorado Avalanche @ Chicago Blackhawks
The Avs are a perfect 5-0-0 on the road this year and although the Blackhawks are a solid team, who are my pick to win the Cup this year, how can you completely count the Avalanche out. I like the line so I’m taking the Avalanche as big underdogs tonight.
Play: Avalanche +170 (SportsInteraction.com)

The Rangers won last night for +1.12 units, and they didn’t even blow the Flames out, which allowed us to also win the total home goals bet. That’s a total of +2.12 units on the night bringing my season record to (10-12) for -2.60 units. Four games on tap tonight and I like one game a lot.
San Jose Sharks @ New Jersey Devils
The Devils have been waiting almost a week for this game, which they probably aren’t happy about having been on a solid 3 game winning streak before the break. Martin Havlat is back for the Sharks and he should help the offense put the puck in the net. This is Havlat’s first game as a Shark and he generally plays his best on big occasions (playoffs, etc.) and this would likely fall into that category. I expect the Sharks to bounce back in a big way from their 3 game losing streak (they have also been off for quite a while – 4 days) and should be primed for a big effort. I’m even going to take them -1.5.
Play: San Jose Sharks (-1.5) +235

Tuesday was a horrible day for me with all of my underdog picks losing. Even the Oilers who played a strong game and had a lead going into the third couldn’t hold on. Those losses bring my season record to (8-12) for -4.72 units. Time to get back on track with another big Thursday in the NHL.
New York Rangers @ Calgary Flames
The Rangers are coming off their first win of the season, a 4-0 blanking of the Canucks, and they will have their confidence back as they face the Flames. Calgary is not a strong team and you will notice that I fade them often throughout the year. Calgary is also coming off a hard fought comeback victory over the Oilers, but the only reason the Flames will get a decent number of points this season is because they are in the weakest division in the NHL.
Play: New York Rangers +112
Away Goals vs Home Goals
I love these type of bets that are available at BetOnline.com. There are 11 games in the NHL tonight and the home team is favoured in 8 of them. This includes some possible blowouts, such as the Bruins hosting the Leafs and the Canucks hosting the Preds. The home teams should prevail when it comes to total goals tonight and this should be an easy unit in our pocket.
Play: Home -145
