Last night finished up 1-1 for us, but the Blues came through with a 2 goal win giving us a +0.45 night. The Blackhawks made it to overtime with the Canadiens, but we lost the coin flip to take down that wager. Tonight I have only found one line that I like. There are a lot of very big favourites tonight, but I couldn’t justify taking an underdog when I legitimately think they will lose. Without further ado here is the one NHL prediction of the evening.
San Jose Sharks @ Anaheim Ducks
The Sharks have won 4 straight as they continue to roll into the playoffs. The Sharks could be the hottest team entering the post season and the talk will soon start up once again about how this could be their year. It’s funny how only a few months ago the Sharks sat in 11th in the West and analysts were starting to count them out of the playoffs already. The Ducks have gone pointless in two straight, which has not helped their playoff push. They now sit tied for 7th with Chicago, but only 2 points ahead of a Stars team that is rallying and really putting on a push to the finish. This is a huge game for the Ducks, but the Sharks are also battling for second in the West so they will not go into this game lightly, especially seeing as this could very easily be a first round match up. With both teams rested and finding meaning in this game I expect the better team to prevail, and in this case that honour falls to the Sharks. The Ducks have been good at home, but the Sharks are rolling and will look to continue this momentum into the post season. Add the fact that the line likely moved in favour of the Ducks because of their desperation and I am convinced there is value betting the Sharks tonight.

There are only two or three games left to decide playoff seedings, which makes every game that much more important to teams with something on the line. I’ve missed a few days, but I will be back strong this week with daily NHL predictions that will win you money.
Chicago Blackhawks @ Montreal Canadiens
The Blackhawks are holding on to the 8th and final playoff spot by the skin of their teeth. They are only 1 point ahead of the Flames (albeit with 2 games in hand) and only 3 points ahead of the Stars. The ‘Hawks have won only twice in their last 5 games and have needed extra time to secure two points in each of these games. Their final 3 games are against a surging Blues team followed by two games against the powerful Red Wings, making a win tonight against a struggling Habs team vital. The Canadiens are another team that have not secured a playoff spot sitting 4 points ahead of the Hurricanes with 3 games remaining. Any single point should be enough for the Habs, but tonight they will be in tough against a Blackhawks team with a lot of character.
Colorado Avalanche @ St. Louis Blues
The Avalanche have been the worst team in the league over the past thirty games, while the Blues have started to get things clicking offensively. Each of the Blues last 6 wins have been by 2 or more goals. They scored 6 against Columbus, 10 against Detroit and 6 against Minnesota in their last 3 wins. The Blues should have no trouble scoring a ton of goals on the Avs tonight, which is why I really like the Blues puckline bet this evening.

One of our two underdog picks came through last night giving us a modest +0.20 night to build on this evening. A full schedule in the NHL tonight with plenty of important games that will affect playoff positioning.
Ottawa Senators @ Florida Panthers
In a battle of the last place teams in the East nobody has anything to play for. That being said the Senators have been playing fairly well of late, while the Panthers have recently dropped to the bottom of the East and should not be expected to win many more games. Anderson is starting for the Senators tonight, while Clemmensen gets the nod for the Panthers. This goalie battle tremendously favours the Senators and in a game where both teams have nothing to play for a lot can come down to which ‘tender comes ready to play. The Senators should have a slight edge in this one and combining this with the fact they are the underdogs according to the bookmakers makes a bet on the Sens very sharp this evening.
Nashville Predators @ Colorado Avalanche
Nashville lost their last game and one loss in the tough Western Conference can make a team very worried. The Preds are only 5 points up on the 9th place Stars and have played 2 extra games. This makes bouncing back tonight vital for the team in their playoff push. Lucky for Nashville they are up against the struggling Avalanche. The Avs have only won 3 of their last 26 games and two of those wins were in shootouts over the struggling Oilers and Blue Jackets. The Avalanche are starting Brian Elliott tonight and he has not looked any sharper after being traded from Colorado to Ottawa earlier in the season. This should be an easy win for the Predators.

The Canucks came through for us last night to reiterate the statement that you if you ever see the ‘Nucks as underdogs, take them because they will likely win! The Sabres and Senators weren’t able to pull out wins for us, but tonight I’ve found two more sharp bets that should get us back on the winning track.
New York Islanders @ New Jersey Devils
The Devils have lost three straight while only scoring 1 goal in this span. Ever since they lost to the Senators on March 17th and their playoff hopes started to dwindle the team has gone back to playing early season Devils hockey. They have only won 1 of their last six games and have scored only 5 goals in that span. The Devils just seem to be a deflated team that was playing on pure adrenaline in the hopes of making the playoffs, but now that the realization has set in that the playoffs are not in their future you can expect another lacklustre performance out of them tonight. The Islanders on the other hand have been playing decent hockey for the past couple months and should be up for this game seeing as they haven’t played since Saturday.
Anaheim Ducks @ Calgary Flames
This is a huge game for both teams. The Ducks are sitting in 7th in the East, but are only 4 points ahead of the Calgary Flames. The Ducks won their last 2 games and 6 of their last 7 to put themselves in a solid playoff position. Tonight they will need another big game from veteran Selanne and hart trophy candidate Corey Perry to put some pucks in the net and solidify their playoff position. Calgary basically needs to win each of their five remaining games to make the playoffs. They will come ready to play, but the Ducks are a better team and this should show through tonight.

I haven’t been able to get my predictions up for the last few days and this will be another quick post as I don’t have a lot of time today. It is a busy day in the NHL tonight and there are a few lines that are just too good to pass up.
Buffalo Sabres @ Toronto Maple Leafs
The Sabres still have something to play for, while the Leafs are done.
Ottawa Senators @ Tampa Bay Lightning
McElhinney is starting for the Senators, but I still like them at +175 dogs because they have been playing solid defensively, while the Lightning have been struggling of late.
Vancouver Canucks @ Nashville Predators
When the top team in the league are dogs, you take them.
The Sens came up big for us as huge dogs last night with a shootout win that tripled our wager. In the Game of the Week play the Leafs were also able to hold off the struggling Avs for a big win in a play that I was very confident about. Tonight I only like one line and it’s a favourite for a change.
Vancouver Canucks @ Atlanta Thrashers
The Canucks have not shown any signs of slowing down heading into the playoffs. They are 8-2-0 in their last ten and play a Thrashers team tonight that looks like they will once again miss the playoffs. Atlanta played last night and pulled out a tight 2-1 victory of the Islanders, but playing the top team in the league should be a different kind of challenge for them. Daniel and Henrik look like they will finish 1, 2 in scoring this year and I expect them to continue putting up points tonight. Luongo is confirmed to start for the Canucks and he looked very sharp in the Canucks 2-1 win over the Red Wings on Wednesday. Expect an easy win for the Canucks tonight, but go with the moneyline because they haven’t been blowing teams out recently.

Our last two bets when to shootouts and luckily for us the Capitals, who were the +140 underdogs came up big, leaving us with a +0.40 unit night. Tonight I found two great plays, but only one of them will be listed here. The other is being sent out via email as our Game of the Week Pick. This is scheduled to be sent out at 5pm tonight, so sign up in the form below to ensure that you receive it before the game. I’m extremely confident in the Game of the Week Pick.
Ottawa Senators @ New York Rangers
The Sens are massive dogs in this one even though they have won 2 of their last 3, 5 of their last 8, 4 of their last 6 road games and have Anderson returning to goal. Sure the Rangers have won 5 straight and 7 of their last 8, but does that really qualify them is -240 favourites here? I don’t think so. Spezza has been on fire and the Senators call-ups have been performing admirably in an attempt to make an impression on the organization in order to remain with the team next season. This is by no means going to be an easy win for the Rangers. They should be favourites, but this line is ridiculous. Take the Senators and hope for Anderson to continue his stellar play.

After a couple of slow nights the NHL is back in full force with 20 teams in action tonight. I’ve once again found a couple of road dogs that I really like tonight.
Washington Capitals @ Philadelphia Flyers
Washington has won 10 of their last 11 games with their only loss coming 6 days ago on the road in Detroit. Neuvirth is back in net after registering a shutout in New Jersey last Friday. The Flyers on the other hand have only won 4 of their last 10 games and look to be stumbling towards the playoffs. The Capitals are only two points behind them in standings so this is a huge game in terms of gaining home ice advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs. Ovechkin is out, but Backstrom is in for the Capitals and in recent years the Capitals have been able to find ways to win many of the games that Ovy could not play. I expect tonight to be no different and the fact that Ovechkin is out is likely one of the reasons that the Capitals have the line they do in this one.
Columbus Blue Jackets @ Colorado Avalanche
The Avs finally won a game on Saturday, even if it was just a shootout victory over the worst team in the NHL (Oilers). The Avs had lost their previous 10 games so a win over any team is a positive for them at the moment. Tonight the Avs host the Blue Jackets, who haven’t been doing much better of late having only won 2 of their last 10. Each of these wins have come on the road and the Blue Jackets may still be holding on to a bit of playoff hope at the moment so they should bring their A game against the Avalanche tonight. The Avs are getting too much credit for their shootout win and they had lost that shootout I would expect the line to have been much different. Let’s take advantage of this and wager on the Jackets tonight.

It’s been a very busy weekend, but I do have one pick for today.
Calgary Flames @ Anaheim Ducks
Calgary is just 15-15-5 one the road this season, while the Ducks have been a very good 22-12-4. The Ducks are playing the second of back to back games, but this is such an important game for them against another Western bubble team that they should have the adrenaline to get through the game with full energy. The Ducks have won two in a row, while the Flames have been struggling a little bit of late. The teams are tied in points, but the Ducks should pull ahead and put the Flames further out of the race tonight.

It’s St. Patty’s day. The green beers are flowin’. March Madness is just starting up. And there are 11 games in the NHL. What more can we ask for? This is going to be a fairly short post (it is St. Patrick’s day after all), but I did a lot of research on these picks last night and I feel very confident that we can continue our winning ways after a solid night on Tuesday.
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Florida Panthers
With the Maple Leafs win over the Hurricanes last night they are only 4 points out of the playoffs with 11 games remaining. They will have enough left in the tank to compete hard for 60 minutes tonight even if it’s just on pure adrenaline and knowing that losses to lowly teams such as the Panthers are not going to help them in their hunt. The Panthers have been getting too much credit of late winning a few tight games after being outplayed. The Leafs are slight dogs in this one, but you can expect a W in the column for the Maple Leafs tonight.
Chicago Blackhawks @ Dallas Stars
The ‘Hawks may have lost 3 tight games in a row before stomping the Sharks the other night, but their level of play has not declined since their big winning streak earlier in the month and in late February. The ‘Hawks play their best in big games and a game against a team just below them in the standings does qualify. Toews and company will put on a clinic tonight against a Stars team that has overachieved throughout the year.
Minnesota Wild @ San Jose Sharks
The Wild are big underdogs in this one and rightfully so. They have lost 3 in a row and are seeing their playoff hopes slip away. This is almost a must win game for them and I actually like their chances. Against the Canucks the Wild played a very good game outshooting Vancouver and the return of Mikko Koivu, Cal Clutterbuck and Clayton Stoner seemed to really spark the team after going down early. The injuries are behind them and when this team has Koivu they are completely different. I give the Wild a better chance to win than the odds indicate.
