Andrew Raycroft ended up getting the start last night after Lehtonen felt tightness during the day, which definitely did not help the chances of our under bet yesterday. That being said, I’ve taken two moneyline wagers tonight, check out the reasoning below.
San Jose Sharks @ Buffalo Sabres
The San Jose Sharks and Buffalo Sabres are each starting to find their games after slow starts to the season. San Jose is (7-5-2) on the road this season, while the Sabres are (5-8-1) at home. San Jose pulled out a tight shootout win over a strong Flyers team last night, but they will have to dig deep to find the energy needed to skate with the Sabres in this second of back to back games. The Sharks are on a bit of a run however, defeating the Red Wings and Flyers, two of the leagues best teams. The Sabres have started to win games, but they are still a fairly average team and because the Sharks are the underdogs in this game I’m choosing them to win. The Sharks will win this game more often than not.
My Pick: San Jose Sharks +115 (Sportsbook.com)
New York Rangers @ Ottawa Senators
The Rangers and Senators are in action tonight in Ottawa, just four days after the Senators defeated the Rangers 3-1 in New York, thanks to a hat trick by Chris Kelly. Tonight the Senators have confirmed that Brian Elliott will start, which should give the team a much needed boost. In games Elliott has returned after Leclaire was in net, the goaltender is (3-1-0) with three shutouts (the 1 loss came in a 1-0 shootout loss to the Sabres. These are very good numbers and I expect Elliott to be at his best tonight. The Senators have been having a tough time scoring of late and really need Spezza (3 points in last 14 games) and Alfredsson (pointless in last 8 games) to pick up the slack offensively and start putting a few goals on the board. If the Senators can get a goal out of either of these players their chances of winning are much improved.
My Pick: Ottawa Senators -115 (Bookmaker.com)
The NHL Betting Tips free prediction record on the year is (36-40) for -7.11 units.
