Another split last night due to the Senators not being able to hold on to their one goal lead in the third period. I have no clue what Jared Cowen was doing on the Islanders lone regulation goal, but it cost the Sens 2 points and my a unit profit. The season record to date now sits at (97-107) for -7.39 units. It’s a huge Saturday in the NHL tonight though and I have a good feeling about today.
Toronto Maple Leafs @ Ottawa Senators
The battle of Ontario means a lot tonight with both the Maple Leafs and Senators battling for a playoff spot. I’m going to be at this game tonight and I’m pumped up for the action. I do like the Senators in this one though, they have had the Leafs number this season and even though all 6 of their games against the Leafs this year are the tail end of back-to-backs (very strange) Craig Anderson and company will have enough to defend their home rink from their rivals. The Senators are on a 3 game winning streak against the Maple Leafs and have already played the 3 games in Toronto. I’m expecting the Sens go to 5-1 against the Maple Leafs this year.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Boston Bruins
The Bruins aren’t playing quite as dominant of hockey as I have come to expect of them this year, but the Penguins didn’t look great in their two games against the Leafs and I expect Boston to come out firing in this one. Tim Thomas is the confirmed starter and I expect the Bruins to win a tight checking affair.

San Jose Sharks @ Phoenix Coyotes
The Sharks are simply a different class than the Coyotes and although their road record of 12-6-4 isn’t great, it is much better than Phoenix’s 10-10-4 home record. Plus the Coyotes have not been playing great hockey lately, winning only one of their last 5 games (a lucky win over a better Senators team) and this losing should continue with the Sharks in town.

St. Louis Blues @ Nashville Predators
The Blues played a better tight checking game than the Kings last night to pull out a 1-0 victory. The Preds are a similar team in many ways, but the way the Predators have been playing, the Blues playing their second game in as many nights and the Preds at home all steer me towards taking the Predators this evening as only slight favourites.
