I finally had a profitable night last night with 2 of my 4 underdogs winning. It’s not a huge win, but it is a move in the right direction and hopefully the start of another one of the big hot streaks I had going earlier in the season. The season record to date now sits at (100-112) for -9.47 units.
Carolina Hurricanes @ Anaheim Ducks
The Hurricanes have some key players back from injury, namely Jeff Skinner, and you can already see the team having more jump and playing a better brand of hockey. The Hurricanes have won their last two games, both against strong opponents (Bruins and Kings) and now head to Anaheim to play a Ducks team that is coming off a big home shootout victory and is battling to stay in playoff contention. To be honest neither of these teams are truly in the hunt, but both will still consider themselves to have a chance with 30 games still left to be played. Both of these teams have been playing better hockey than what got them to the bottom of their respective divisions, but the ‘Canes have been playing slightly better of late which should counter-act the home ice advantage Anaheim has. I think this could go either way very easily, so I’m taking the underdog ‘Canes at +140.
