We started the season off 3 for 3 on Saturday night with big wins by the Sens, Blues and Rangers. None of these games were even close and these wins have brought my season record to 3-0 for +3.15 units! I celebrated the big wins on Saturday, which resulted in me not making picks yesterday. But today I’m back with some more winners.
St. Louis Blues @ Nashville Predators
The Blues looked absolutely dominant in their 6-0 win over the Red Wings on Saturday. The Preds lost their home opener on the same night in a shootout to a Blue Jackets team that was projected to once again finish last in the league. The Blues are just too good and it looks like they haven’t missed a beat from last year if Saturday’s game was any indication. I like the Blues to find another way to win a big divisional game tonight.

Buffalo Sabres @ Toronto Maple Leafs
Vanek went off yesterday with 2 goals and 3 assists in a 5-2 win over the Flyers in Buffalo. Tonight they head to Toronto for the Maple Leafs home opener at the ACC. At this point in the season I don’t think the back to back game with an hour flight will do much to hard the Sabres chances in this one. The Maple Leafs didn’t look horrible against the Habs in their win on Saturday, but that was a battle between two of the weakest teams in the league. The Sabres look like they could be a legitimate playoff contender this season and I expect them to start the season 2-0 and not let the Leafs get off to that fast start.

Anaheim Ducks @ Calgary Flames
The Ducks lit up the powerhouse Canucks on Saturday. The Flames on the other hand gave up a one goal lead to lose to the Sharks 4-1. I really don’t like the Flames this year and I will be fading them often. The Ducks on the other hand have the firepower up front to be a solid team. With stars like they have it is easier to fill in the depth roles and I expect them to be a playoff bubble team this year. They will start the season off 2-0 with a big win in Calgary tonight though.
