This is my first prediction post of the New Year and hopefully we can start it off right with some big wins. The end of 2011 went well going 3 for 4 on the 31st of December for +2.16 units, which brings the season record to (78-78) for +3.74 units. There are six games on tap tonight, but I’m only going with one strong play.
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Toronto Maple Leafs
The Lightning have not been good on the road this season going (6-12-3), but they are on a 3 game winning streak (all at home) and should carry some momentum into this game against a Toronto team that is struggling. The Leafs haven’t been great at the ACC this year either with an (8-5-4) record and they have lost their last 3 games and 8 of their last 11. James Reimer has not been good since returning from his concussion and goaltending is once again a big concern in Toronto. The Lightning are a better team than they have shown this year and I expect them to win this game against a struggling Leafs team.
