NHL Betting Predictions February 11

Another 2 for 2 night on Wednesday continues are nice roll alive.  Tonight we’re going with 3 games, the road team in each, and we are expecting another winning night.  Check out the picks below:

Colorado Avalanche @ Columbus Blue Jackets

The Colorado Avalanche have been playing some below par hockey of late and have been uncharacteristically scoring a lack of goals.  That could all change tonight when Peter Forsberg laces up the skates.  Forsberg is set to play with Matt Duchene and Milan Hejduk and should provide an emotional spark that could help the Avs get out of their current funk.  The Avalanche are a better team than they’ve been playing like recently and adding a super talent like Forsberg can only help their cause.  The Blue Jackets have been playing well lately, with 3 wins in a row followed by a tight loss to the surging Sharks on Wednesday, but I think Forsbergs emotional boost will be enough to secure a win for the Avs tonight.

My Pick: Colorado Avalanche +110 (Bookmaker.com)

Minnesota Wild @ St. Louis Blues

Minnesota beat Colorado 3-2 on Wednesday to get back on track after their 1-0 loss to the Coyotes.  The Wild are playing good solid two-way hockey which has resulted in them going 7-2-0 in their last 9.  Theodore gets the call in net tonight, with the Wild and Blues set to play a back-to-back home and away series.  The Blues have seen themselves drop to the bottom of the playoff race in the West after losing 5 of their last 7 games.  The Blues know that if they lose both games of this home and away with the Wild they can almost kiss their playoff chances goodbye.  That being said I think the Wild outplay the Blues tonight and because they are underdogs in the bookies minds its an easy bet for me.

My Pick: Minnesota Wild +125 (Bookmaker.com)

Chicago Blackhawks @ Dallas Stars

It’s coming down to crunch time for the Blackhawks.  They are only 20 some games away from being the latest Stanley Cup winning team to miss the playoffs.  This will do a lot to motivate a team and with all the character guys they have I expect a solid stretch run from the ‘Hawks.  The Stars have started to play like more people expected them to of late.  They’ve lost 4 in a row and 6 of their last 7, with the only win in that span coming against the lowly Oilers.  Dallas is dropping off and I don’t see them pulling it together against a strong and motivated Blackhawks squad.

My Pick: Chicago Blackhawks -115 (Bookmaker.com)

NHL Betting Predictions February 9, 2011

We went 1 for 2 last night.  The Devils came through for us in overtime, but the Panthers blew their one goal lead and gave up the game winner late in the third to the Blues.  That results in a 0.17 unit loss for last night since both teams were slight favourites.  Tonight I’m mixing it up with one one favourite and one dog, check them out below:

San Jose Sharks @ Columbus Blue Jackets

Both of these teams played last night and both teams won.  The Sharks are travelling from Washington, while the Blue Jackets are heading home from Pittsburgh.  This means each team has about the exact same schedule so there should be no advantage in terms of rest.  The Sharks have been on a tear lately going 8-0-1 in their last 9.  Pretty much ever since some hockey analysts were counting the Sharks out of the playoffs this year after their four game losing streak that dropped them to around 11th in the East, the Sharks have been playing their best hockey of the season and are taking their game personally.  The Blue Jackets are also making a push towards the playoffs having won 3 games in a row, but the Sharks will no doubt be their toughest challenge yet.  San Jose is currently on a 7 game road trip and have won their first three of these games.  From what I see the Sharks are on too much of a streak right now and they are too good of a team to be slowed down.

My Pick: San Jose Sharks -130 (Bookmaker.com)

Phoenix Coyotes @ Dallas Stars

The Coyotes have won 2 in a row and have not been scored on in either of these games.  They will look to continue this trend as they head to Dallas to take on a Stars team that is struggling having lost 5 of their last 6, being outscored 28-13 in this span.  Even having lost their last 3 games and not playing their best hockey the Stars are pretty big favourites in this one.  When you’re on a streak as bad as the Stars it doesn’t get fixed just by playing at home.  Expect the Coyotes to take this one in a hard fought battle.

My Pick: Phoenix Coyotes +130 (Bookmaker.com)

NHL Betting Predictions February 8 – Devils and Panthers to Win

It’s been a couple days since I found any games I liked, but tonight there are a couple lines that I’m definitely taking advantage of.

Carolina Panthers @ New Jersey Devils

The Devils have been on a tear going 9-1-2 in their last 12.  Kovalchuk is finally starting to score and the team defense is working together much better and not giving up a ton of goals every night.  Carolina has been playing around .500 hockey of late, but they’ve lost 4 of their last 5 on the road.  They are currently in 8th and they need to keep getting wins in order to stay ahead of the Thrashers and secure a playoff position.  Hedberg is in net for the Devils with Brodeur nursing an injury, but Hedberg has played fairly well of late so this shouldn’t be problem.  I expect the Devils to continue on this hot streak and win the game.

My Pick: New Jersey Devils -120 (Bookmaker.com)

St. Louis Blues @ Florida Panthers

The Blues, who are (7-12-5) on the road this season head to Florida to take on the Panthers who are (11-8-5) at home.  Each team has won only 3 of their last 10 games and both are sitting 6 or 7 points out of the playoffs.  These games are huge if they look to stay in the hunt and have a legitimate chance coming down the stretch.  The confirmed goalies tonight are Halak and Vokoun, so each team is bringing their top guy in the hopes of winning this game and edging closer to the playoffs.  The Blues have just not looked good to me of late and their road record speaks for itself.  They have lost their last 4 on the road and I expect this trend to continue.

My Pick: Florida Panthers -115 (Bodog.com)

NHL Betting Predictions February 4

The Flames and Wild came through for us last night keeping their winning streaks alive and giving us a 2-1 night for +1.3 units.  Our streak is going to have to stop for tonight though because I can’t find any lines that I feel provide any sort of value.  The only one that I was kind of leaning towards was taking the Oilers as +170 dogs @ Bookmaker.com.  The Blues haven’t been playing well lately, but that being said they are a very strong home team and Halak is confirmed for the start in goal.

Tomorrow we will have an exclusive pick sent out to all members who sign up to the newsletter though, so if you want to get that email with our top pick for the big Saturday sign up below.

Until tomorrow, good luck.

NHL Betting Predictions February 3

Two for two last night so lets keep the cash flowing into our online betting accounts.  There are another 6 games in the NHL tonight and I like the line in half of these games.

Calgary Flames @ Atlanta Thrashers

The Flames are playing their best hockey of the season and are riding high on a 5 game winning streak that has put them back into the playoff hunt.  They will not want to lose this momentum and lucky for them they are facing off against a Thrashers team that has lost their groove of late winning only 2 of their last 10 games.  The Flames should put it to the Thrashers tonight and because the Flames are surprising underdogs this is an easy bet to make.  The Flames definitely have a better chance to win this game than lose.

My Pick: Calgary Flames +105 (Bookmaker.com)

Dallas Stars @ Boston Bruins

The Stars and Bruins have both been playing well lately, but the Stars lost their first game back after the break, while the Bruins won theirs.  This could be the reason for the oddsmakers leaning heavily in the Bruins favour.  However, Rask gets the start tonight which hasn’t worked out too well for the Bruins this season.  The Stars are starting Raycroft and although he is not the teams #1 goaltender he is 8-4 this season, while Rask is 4-10-1.  Dallas’ home record is very similar to the Bruins home record, so it is surprising that the Bruins are such heavy favourites.  The smart money goes on the Stars in this one.

My Pick: Dallas Stars +150 (Bookmaker.com)

Minnesota Wild @ Colorado Avalanche

The Wild are riding high of late and both teams are in a battle for a playoff spot in the West.  Colorado has lost 3 of their last 4 games and have given up 19 goals over that span.  The Wild on the other hand have won 5 of their last 6 with 3 shutouts in that time and only 7 goals against total.  The Wild are also 14-8-3 on the road this season, while the Avs are 14-11-3 at home.  But yet the Avs are big favourites to win this one.  Explain that one to me.  Theodore is starting so that may have something to do with it, but he is a very respectable 8-7-2 this season.

My Pick: Minnesota Wild +125 (Bookmaker.com)

I find the odds on those three games very strange and honestly feel each of those three picks should be favourites in their games.  If 2 win thats a solid night and if just 1 wins its only a small loss, so place a bet on each.  If you parlay them it could hit huge if each team pulls out the W, which there is a strong possibility of.  Get exclusive picks each week by signing up for the newsletter below.  A buddy of mine has started a similar NBA betting predictions site that you should check out if you are into the NBA at all.

NHL Betting Predictions February 2

It’s been a long All-Star break and unfortunately I didn’t have time to get my picks up last night and I’m getting to these ones a little bit late.  That being said I found most of the value in the later games so you still have a bit of time to place your wagers.

Vancouver Canucks @ Phoenix Coyotes

The Vancouver Canucks defeated a strong Dallas team last night 4-1, while the Coyotes blew a 3-0 lead on the Sharks to lose in San Jose 5-3.  The Coyotes also had their game finish a couple hours after the Coyotes and those extra couple hours rest may play a factor in tonights game.  The Coyotes just haven’t looked the same for the past several games losing 5 of their last 7 and blowing the lead like they did can’t do anything to help their confidence.  The Canucks on the other hand were having some trouble coming into the break, but they look to have regrouped after resting and when they are fully healthy they should be a top 3 team in this league.  Luongo is starting in goal and I expect a win from the Canucks tonight.

My Pick: Vancouver Canucks -140 (Sportsbook.com)

Los Angeles Kings @ Edmonton Oilers

The Kings played last night and lost a hard fought 1-0 battle against the Wild in a shootout.  That was the Kings first shootout loss of the season after going 5-0 to start, while it was the Wilds first shootout victory after starting the season 0-4.  The Kings had a bad span of 10 losses in 12 games, but had seemed to get back on track winning three games heading into the All-Star break.  This hard fought defensive battle against a strong Wild team shouldn’t be considered a step backward and I expect the Kings to come out strong tonight.  Quick is back in net and even though Bernier pulled out the shutout last night, this should help the Kings confidence.  The Oilers are 2-7-1 in their last 10 and the only reason they are considered only slight underdogs in this game is because they did not play last night.  That being said, the All-Star break should have rejuvenated many players and playing two nights in a row when you are fully fresh to start shouldn’t be too tough for the Kings.

My Pick: LA Kings -135 (Bookmaker.com)

The odds you find above for each outcome are the best odds available for NHL real money betting at any of our top recommended online sportsbooks.  It’s smart to have a variety of betting accounts so you can get the best odds every time.

NHL Betting Predictions January 26

The Rangers came through a couple nights ago, defeating the Capitals as big underdogs to give us a positive return for the night.  Tonight we’ve found another couple

New Jersey Devils @ Detroit Red Wings

The Devils have been playing very well of late.  Unfortunately for them it’s too little too late, but that being said the oddsmakers have not taken this turnaround into account just yet, which is why the Devils are big dogs tonight against the Red Wings even though they have won 4 straight and are (6-0-1) in their last 7.  Detroit on the other hand has only won 2 of their last 6 games.  The goaltending matchup will be Brodeur vs Howard and I can see this game going either way.  For this reason take the good line on the Devils continuing their winning ways of late.

My Pick: New Jersey Devils +165 (Bookmaker.com)

St. Louis Blues @ Calgary Flames

The Blues head into Calgary tonight to face a Flames team that has won 3 straight and put themselves into the playoff race in the Western Conference.  The Flames are only 4 points out, while the Blues are 5 points out, making this a huge game for both teams heading into the All-Star break.  The Blues have been struggling lately winning only 2 of their last 10 games and they will need to turn this around if they are going to hold on to any hope heading down the stretch.  The Blues are (7-11-4) on the road this season, while the Flames are (13-9-1).  After looking at each teams play of late and their road vs home records I would have expected the Flames to be bigger favourites than -135.  Smart money is on the Flames tonight.

My Pick: Calgary Flames -135 (Bookmaker.com)

NHL Betting Predictions January 24

There are 6 games on tap tonight as the NHL moves towards All-Star game weekend.  I’ve found two sharp bets.  Check them out below.

New York Rangers @ Washington Capitals

The Rangers, who are 6-4-0 in their last ten have been very good on the road this season with a (16-9-1) road record.  The Caps though have also been very good at home (16-5-5), but have not looked their best lately.  I expect this to turn around soon and the Caps to return to their dominant ways moving into the playoffs.  Tonight though the Rangers are much bigger dogs than they should be.   For this reason the smart money is on the Rangers at +170.

My Pick: New York Rangers +170 (Bookmaker.com)

Nashville Predators @ Calgary Flames

The Predators have won 3 in a row and 8 of their last 10.  They are firing on all cylinders as they head into Calgary to face a Flames team who have won 2 in a row and are possibly starting to believe that the playoffs are still a possibility this season.  The Predators have simply been too good of late though and the only reason they are underdogs in this game is because it’s back to back games for them.  I still think the Preds will have enough in the tank to defeat an inferior Flames team.

My Pick: Nashville Predators +115 (Bookmaker.com)

Here at NHL Betting Tips we don’t use any specific NHL betting system because the vast majority of betting systems lose money over the long run.  That being said some betting systems do provide positive results and coming up with your own NHL betting system is a great way to begin thinking about the different aspects of the games and how certain variables can affect the outcome.

NHL Predictions January 20

We’re coming off a 4 for 4 night on Tuesday and look to continue these winning ways tonight with two more plays.  It’s a busy night in the NHL, but it was hard to find many sharp lines because the bookmakers seemed to be spot on for the majority of games.

Anaheim Ducks @ Toronto Maple Leafs

The Ducks have been playing great hockey lately, winning their last two and 8 of their last 10.  They head into Toronto to play a Maple Leafs team that just came off a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of the New York Rangers.  This game could provide redemption for the Maple Leafs and a win could put that embarrassing loss behind them, but I expect Anaheim to be too much and the fatigue of back to back games to set in and the Ducks to pull out a close on.  Surprisingly the Ducks are the slight underdogs, but they should win this game more often than not.

My Pick: Anaheim Ducks +100 (Bookmaker.com)

Phoenix Coyotes @ Los Angeles Kings

The Coyotes have been a very streaky team this season and have lost their last two heading into LA.  That being said they’re 6-2-2 in their last 10, compared with the Kings who are 2-8-0.  Los Angeles is slowly watching their playoff hopes slip away and a loss tonight would put them even further out of contention.  Quick gets the nod in goal for the Kings, but he has lost 7 of his last 8 games and is not on top of his game like he was back before Christmas.  This should be a close game, but the Coyotes have just as good a chance to pull out the victory as the slumping Kings.

Phoenix Coyotes +125 (Bookmaker.com)

NHL Betting Predictions January 18

After taking a few days off from NHL predictions, we are back on this busy Tuesday night ready to place some wagers.  We are making four plays tonight, check them out below:

Montreal Canadiens @ Buffalo Sabres

The Canadiens took on the Calgary Flames at home last night, blowing a four goal lead before winning the game in overtime thanks to a Subban goal a couple minutes in.  The Habs lost their legs late in the game and that does not bode well for a solid showing tonight in Buffalo.  Price is back in net, but the Sabres have been playing decent of late and they know that if they are going to have any hope of making the playoffs, games against the Canadiens are must wins.

My Pick: Buffalo Sabres -135 (Bookmaker.com)

Los Angeles Kings @ St. Louis Blues

The Kings also played last night, losing on the road in Dallas.  Tonight they continue their road trip against the Blues, who beat the Kings a few nights ago in LA.  The Kings have yet to find the groove they had earlier in the season and it looks like they may continue to slip further out of the playoff picture in the Western Conference.  A tired Kings team on the road where they are (9-12-0) this season against a Blues team that is (14-7-2) at home and eager for a push past the Kings in the standings leads me to believe the Blues take this one handily.

My Pick: St. Louis Blues -130 (TheSportsbook.com)

Nashville Predators @ Phoenix Coyotes

In another game where one team played last night, in this case the Coyotes, I’m once again taking the rested team.  The Preds have been playing well of late, and although this may be the start of one of their downward streaks of the season, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt.  The Coyotes lost last night at home to the Sharks and the Predators have been a much better team throughout the season.  The Predators are the underdogs in this one, but they should win more often than not.

My Pick: Nashville Predators +105 (Sportsbook.com)

Minnesota Wild @ Edmonton Oilers

The Wild are coming off a huge 4-0 win over the dominant Vancouver Canucks.  This win should give the Wild a lot of confidence heading to Edmonton where they will face the Western Conferences worst.  Beating the Conferences best team a couple nights before may have the Wild underestimating the Conferences worst, but the Wild should know that for their team every game is very important and they can’t afford to look past teams like the Oilers.  Edmonton has gone back to not playing well lately, so the Wild should be able to outclass the Oilers and move one step closer to the playoffs.

My Pick: Minnesota Wild -120 (Bookmaker.com)

You will see that the best odds for our four plays this evening can be found at three different NHL betting sites.  It’s important to have accounts at all of these bookies so that you can receive the best odds for each game.
