Free NHL Betting Predictions December 3

The Sharks and Stars both came through for us to give us a 2-0 night for NHL predictions.  Leclaire lost yet another game and I have to wonder when Cory Clouston will realize that the team has a much better chance at victory with Brian Elliot between the pipes.  I’m making two bets tonight, both money line, that you can check out below:

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Buffalo Sabres

To the untrained eye the Blue Jackets may seem to be on a tough 3 game losing streak that has put a halt to their successful season, but when you look a little closer you see that two of the three losses came at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings, who have been the best team so far this season, and the other came in a shootout in Columbus vs Nashville who is a very strong team on the road.  The Blue Jackets still boast an (8-2-0) road record and head to Buffalo tonight to take on the Sabres.  Columbus is 4-0 versus Eastern Conference teams this season.

The Sabres have won their last 4 home games, but 2 of these wins came in overtime and 2 came over either weak or struggling teams.  Those 4 home wins were the Sabres first of the season, with their record in Buffalo now standing at (4-8-1).  The Sabres still haven’t turned their season around and the fact that they are favourites in this matchup seems very strange.  This game was an obvious pick for me.

My Pick: Columbus Blue Jackets +110 (Bookmaker.com)

Calgary Flames @ Minnesota Wild

The Flames shutout the Wild 3-0 in Calgary on Monday night.  They then proceeded to get destroyed by the Vancouver Canucks 7-2.  The Wild on the other hand, have lost 3 straight, and have had trouble scoring goals of late.  That being said Calgary is (4-7-2) on the road this season, while the Wild are (7-6-1) at home.  Each of these teams is lingering at the bottom of the Western Conference standings and desperately need some wins soon in order to keep any playoff hopes alive.  I expect the Wild to come out ready to end this losing streak and to avenge their 3-0 loss earlier in the week to the Flames.

My Pick: Minnesota Wild -130 (Bookmaker.com)

After two solid victories last night the NHL Betting Tips record on the season is now (35-37) for -3.91 units.  We are looking to get closer to breaking even after tonights games.  Our exclusive picks record on the season is (2-1) and we have won our last two plays by large margins.  The exclusive pick is sent out every Saturday, so sign up to the newsletter below in order to receive our top pick tomorrow.

NHL Betting Predictions for December 2

The Canadiens blew their 2 goal lead that would have gave us the puckline last night late in the third period.  The Oilers may need to be taken more seriously in the future as they have now won 4 of their last 6 games!  Two bets for everyone tonight, check them out below:

San Jose Sharks @ Ottawa Senators

It’s the return of Dany Heatley tonight as the San Jose Sharks head to Ottawa.  You can expect to hear boo’s everytime Heatley touches the puck, but I don’t think this will have much of an affect on the game.  The Sharks are (4-4-2) on the road this season, while the Senators are (7-6-0).  It has been confirmed that Leclaire is getting the start tonight to try to improve his horrible (1-5-1) record on the season.  The Senators just don’t play as well in front of Leclaire and he as a goaltender finds ways to lose games so I’ve been fading the Senators when Leclaire starts in recent games and tonight is no exception.

The Sharks are in 12th place in the West, which is very unfamiliar to them, and they will be taking every game seriously from this point forward.  The Western Conference is very strong and to make the playoffs teams must win about 45 games in my estimation.  This is the Sharks first of a five game road trip to Eastern North America and they will be looking to come out strong out of the gate.  The main reason for this pick though is the Leclaire factor.

My Pick: San Jose Sharks -115 (TheSportsbook.com)

Washington Capitals @ Dallas Stars

The Caps and Stars are both on strong 4 game winning streaks, but one of these streaks will come to an end tonight.  Washington has turned it around since their embarrassing 5-0 loss to the lowly Devils, but the team is still only (6-5-1) on the road this season.  The Stars boast an (8-3-1) home record and have been able to pull out a lot of tight games of late.  This is the second of back to back games for the Capitals, which also can’t be ignored.  This is a slight lean, but I’m going with the Stars tonight.

My Pick: Dallas Stars +100 (Bookmaker.com)

Another tough night brings the NHL Betting Tips record to (33-37) for -5.78 units.

Free NHL Predictions December 1 2010

The Tampa Bay Lightning came through for me last night forcing overtime late and then potting one in the extra frame to win the game.  This basically split the night because I was way off with my under prediction on the Blues vs Blackhawks game that ended up having a total of 12 goals scored.  Three more picks for you tonight including one puck line and one money line wager.

Edmonton Oilers @ Montreal Canadiens

The Oilers somehow pulled out a win over the Senators on Monday night despite being outplayed by the opposition.  Gerber played very well in that game and now has 2 wins and 0 losses starting in goal for the Edmonton Oilers, which is really quite the feat considering the state of the team this season.  Dubnyk gets the call tonight and although he has played well he has lost his last 2 games, giving up 9 goals over that span.  With Carey Price playing like a man possessed in the Montreal net the goaltender matchup is in favour of the Habs tonight.  Needless to say the team matchup is also very heavily in favour of Montreal, who are (10-3-0) in their last 10 games and have won their last 3 at the Bell Centre.  I expect the Canadiens to really take it to this Oilers team that has yet to string two wins together since the first two games of the season.

My Pick: Montreal Canadiens (-1.5) +150 @ TheSportsbook.com

Phoenix Coyotes @ Minnesota Wild

The Coyotes played last night to a 3-0 loss in Nashville, while Minnesota had the night off.  That being said the Wild are coming off of a 3-0 loss of their own and will be happy to return home where they boast a (7-5-1) record this season.  As mentioned this is the second of back to back games for Phoenix, who are (1-3-1) in the second leg of back to back games this season.  The Wild need to win their home games in order to stay in the playoff race because they have never been able to perform well at home.  I expect the Coyotes to be flat and to add a loss to their back to back game record.

My Pick: Minnesota Wild -135 @ Sportsbook.com

NHL Betting Predictions November 30

Medium sized night in the NHL tonight with 5 games in action.  I am placing two wagers tonight that you can read about below:

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Toronto Maple Leafs

Tampa Bay is (7-6-1) on the road this season, while the Maple Leafs are (6-4-2) at home.  Both teams have lost their last two games and the Maple Leafs are once again finding difficulty scoring goals with only 5 goals for in their last 4 games.  The lightning on the other hand are having trouble keeping pucks out of their own net, allowing 10 goals in their most recent 2 losses.  Something has to give tonight and I expect Tampa Bay to enjoy playing a Toronto team that has very few offensive weapons.  Tampa Bay should be able to score goals like they have all year and it will be up to the Maple Leafs to keep pace.  They won’t be able to.

My Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning -105 @ Bookmaker.com

St. Louis Blues @ Chicago Blackhawks

The Blues and Blackhawks are in action tonight in Chicago.  The goaltender matchup is expected to be Jaroslav Halak vs Corey Crawford.  Halak and the Blues seem to have returned to their stellar defensive selves with Halak allowing only 8 goals in his last 4 starts.  Crawford has also found his game lately, with the Hawks only surrendering 7 goals in Crawfords most recent 5 games, 4 of these wins.  I expect both teams to be defensively sound this evening and I expect whichever team hits 2 goals first will win the game.  Crawford is in a battle with Turco for the starting role in Chicago and as he continues to play well the role becomes his for the taking.

My Pick: Under 5.5 -130 @ Bookmaker.com

After the two tough losses in last nights games the NHL Betting Tips free predictions record is now (32-34) for -3.73 units.

NHL Betting Predictions November 29

We didn’t find any sharp NHL bets last night, so decided to take the night off, but we’re back at it tonight with two wagers.  Saturday was a solid night for our free predictions, going 2 for 2 with the posted predictions and also easily winning the exclusive pick that was sent out via email to our newsletter subscribers.

Edmonton Oilers @ Ottawa Senators

The Oilers head into Ottawa tonight to face Brian Elliott and the Senators.  The Sens were my exclusive pick on Saturday night and I expect them to continue rolling tonight against the dreadful Oil.  The Senators are (7-5-0) at home this season, while the Oilers are (3-6-3) on the road.  With Elliott in net the Senators just seem to play better and after a few slumps during the season every game is very important to the Senators so they will not take the Oilers lightly.  Gerber is in goal for Edmonton and he is (1-0-0) this season after playing a very solid game in a win over Colorado where he made 35 saves on 37 shots.  Gerber is a wild card for tonights game, but the Senators should be able to dominate enough to get to him at least a few times during the game.

My Pick: Ottawa Senators (-0.5) -125 @ Bookmaker.com

Minnesota Wild @ Calgary Flames

The Minnesota Wild are (4-4-1) on the road this season, while the Flames are (5-5-0) at home.  The Wild have been up and down recently, but their top scorer, Martin Havlat, has found his groove recording 5 points in his last 3 games and 8 points in his last five.  Havlat is a big part of this team and he needs to produce in order for the Wild to find success.

Calgary has still lost 4 of their last 5 games and are having trouble moving up in the standings.  It looks like it’s going to be a long season for the Flames as they are quickly solidifying themselves in that 14th position in the Western Conference.  I expect the Wild to come out tonight with a lot of drive because they realize every game is very important in their playoff run this season.

My Pick: Minnesota Wild +125 @ Bookmaker.com

After a solid night Saturday the NHL Betting Tips free predictions record is now (32-32) for -1.73 units.

NHL Betting Predictions November 27

It’s Saturday, which means there are a lot of teams in action tonight.  Most of these teams would have played yesterday, which makes for some interesting matchups with a lot of teams on back to back games.  We had a slightly better night last night +0.59 units and we will look to build on that with some picks tonight.  I’m sending out the exclusive pick of the week game to all newsletter subscribers via email at about 5pm EST tonight, so sign up to the newsletter at the bottom of this post if you haven’t already in order to receive this pick.

Buffalo Sabres @ Montreal Canadiens

The Sabres won last night 3-1 in Toronto, mainly due to the Leafs lack of discipline, which gave the Sabres plenty of power play time in the first which they were able to capitalize on.  The Sabres have been better of late and are (5-4-2) on the road this season, but their recent record is slightly skewed because of all the shootout and overtime wins they have been able to pull out while still not playing grade A hockey.

The Habs on the other hand are going back to the hot hand of Carey Price tonight after giving him a break and letting Auld see some action in Atlanta.  It didn’t go well with the Habs losing 3-0.  I expect them to be back to top form tonight in Montreal and Carey Price will be eager to get back between the pipes.  The Sabres still aren’t that good and the Canadiens are for real this season.

My Pick: Montreal Canadiens -140 (Sportsbook.com)

San Jose Sharks @ Edmonton Oilers

The Sharks played late last night, getting killed 6-1 in Vancouver, while the Oilers had the night off.  That being said the Sharks should still be considered one of the top teams in the league, while the Oilers are by far the worst.  The Sharks will want to come out firing tonight after their embarrassing loss and should be able to light up the inexperienced and defensively lacking Oilers squad.

I’m expecting a big win for the Sharks this evening so I’m taking the regulation line which I feel provides great value.

My Pick: San Jose Sharks -0.5 +100 (Bookmaker.com)

That’s it for today, but the game of the week pick will be sent out around 5pm.  Be sure to sign up to the newsletter below to receive the pick.  I’m convinced it’s a lock.  The NHL Betting Tips record is now (30-32) for -3.44 units.

NHL Betting Predictions November 26

It’s a huge day in the NHL tonight and one where you could possibly watching 13 hours worth of hockey.  There are 26 teams in action throughout the day and night and I have found three bets that I will be taking this evening.  The Avs let us down last night after completely outplaying the Oilers.  Martin Gerber played very well.  He was the wild card coming into that matchup having not started yet this year and being known as a inconsistent goaltender, but he brought his A game and lifted the Oil to victory.

New Jersey Devils @ New York Islanders

The Devils have been playing a little better lately, winning 2 straight and tonight they have a legitimate shot at making it 3 in a row, playing an Islanders team that has lost 14 straight games!  Kovalchuk has yet to really find his groove in New Jersey, but playing against the 2nd worst defense in the league could be the medicine he needs.  Tentative starters for this evening are Hedberg and Roloson.  Hedberg has actually played very well, giving up only 1 goal in the Devils last two victories and boasting a (3-2-1) record on this losing team throughout the season.  Roloson on the other hand is (2-9-1) and has been in goal for a majority of the Islanders losses throughout this streak.  The Islanders just seem to find ways to lose.

My Pick: New Jersey Devils -120 (Bookmaker.com)

Ottawa  Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins

The Sens haven’t looked great of late losing 4 of their last 5, with their only win coming over a struggling Kings team.  And for some reason the Senators are going back with Leclaire for the third straight time tonight.  They’ve only won one game this year with Leclaire between the pipes, while losing 5.  It’s a very strange decision and one that I expect to cost the Senators this evening.

The Penguins have been on a roll and being a streaky team they are very good when they are winning.  The Penguins have won 4 straight and Crosby has been tearing it up, while battling with Steven Stamkos for league scoring supremacy.  The Pens home record isn’t amazing this season, but as a rolling team facing a struggling team with a subpar goaltender I expect the Penguins to pull this out.

My Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins -170 (Bookmaker.com)

Detroit Red Wings @ Columbus Blue Jackets

The Red Wings (4-3-0) on the road this season, head into Columbus to face a strong team that has won 5 straight.  The Blue Jackets though have been much better on the road this season and own a (6-5-0) record in their home arena.  This game is a battle for first place in the Central Division and the Western Conference so you can expect both teams to bring everything they’ve got.  The Wings lost by a large decision, 5-1, in Atlanta two nights ago and they will be looking for redemption this evening.  The Red Wings haven’t lost too many by large decisions this year, but when they have they’ve been able to bounce back and get a W the following game.  Both teams are going to be flying and doing everything they can to win.  My feeling is that the Red Wings are just a better team than the Blue Jackets and in such an important game they will make sure to show it.

My Pick: Detroit Red Wings +100 (Bookmaker.com)

After another tough loss last night the NHL Betting Tips record has dropped to (28-31) for -4.03 units on the season.  Tomorrow is Saturday and that means its time for the exclusive game of the week pick.  Make sure you sign up to the newsletter today in order to receive this weeks choice.

NHL Betting Predictions November 25

Last night didn’t go as planned once again.  The Blue Jackets really let us down, waiting until overtime to score the winning goal.  The Blue Jackets dominated the play, but those couple minutes to start the second really killed us when Garon gave up those two semi-flukey goals against.  Moving on to tonights lone matchup.

Colorado Avalanche @ Edmonton Oilers

The Avs also let us down last night, losing 4-2 in Vancouver.  Craig Anderson left the game after the first period with an injured groin so Budaj will be between the pipes tonight for Colorado.  The Avs are playing back-to-back games, but they are 2-2 in those on the season and they are (6-4-1) on the road in total.

The Oilers were embarrassed on Tuesday night in Phoenix.  This could mean the Oilers are eager to get back on the ice to search for redemption, but that hasn’t been the case so far this year and the sample size of the Oilers getting blown out is quite large.  In the games after the Oilers have lost by 3 or more goals they are 0-6.  Their 3 wins this season (not including their 2 W’s to start the season) have all come on the road after hard fought battles.  Martin Gerber is getting the call in net for the Oil, which will be his first start of the season, so who knows what to expect out of him.

It’s always fairly safe betting against the Oilers and the Avs aren’t even very big favourites in this one.

My Pick: Colorado Avalanche -125 (Sportsbook.com

After another rough night the NHL Betting Tips record for the season is now (28-30) for -3.03 units.  We did win our game of the week pick by a fair margin last week!  Sign up below to receive this weeks pick on Saturday.

NHL Betting Predictions for November 24

After a quiet night in the NHL where the sole game saw the Coyotes dismantle the lowly Oilers, almost every other team is in action tonight with 13 games on tap.  I have found five bets that I will be placing this evening and if you are interested in tailing me I hope we can turn things around with a big night this evening.

Los Angeles Kings @ Montreal Canadiens

The Kings are in a bit of a slump at the moment having lost 4 of their last 5 games, with their only win coming in a shootout over Boston (in that game they blew a 3 goal lead).  Bernier is getting the call in net for the Kings this evening and he has been much worse than Jonathan Quick on the year, winning only twice in six games.  Bernier’s last two outtings have been road losses where he has given up 10 goals in total.

The Habs are coming off a tough road loss to Philadelphia where they gave up an early two goal lead, eventually losing 3-2 in regulation.  The one positive from that game was Carey Price continuing to play well, saving 42 of 45 shots against in the game.  Carey is once again between the pipes for the Canadiens tonight and he now has the fans behind him at home, which is evident by the fact that Price is leading the All-Star voting as a write-in!  He will surely be extra motivated tonight after hearing of the support he has received from his fans in Montreal.

The Kings have only been to overtime 3 times this year and have won each time in shootouts.  Montreal has only been to extra time twice winning once.  The Canadiens should be too much for a struggling Kings team that finishing up a tough road trip.

My Pick: Montreal Canadiens -0.5 +130 (Bookmaker.com)

Columbus Blue Jackets @ New York Islanders

The Blue Jackets are riding a 4 game win streak, beating some of the top teams in the NHL over those games.  Meanwhile, the Islanders have plummetted to the bottom of the standings after losing 13 straight games.  The crazy thing is that the Blue Jackets are only slight favourites to win this game according to the oddsmaker lines.  Added to these streaks Columbus is 7-1-0 on the road this season and 3-0-0 vs teams from the Eastern Conference.  Garon gets the call in net for the Blue Jackets tonight and he has earned a shutout in 3 of his last 4 starts!  Everything points to the Blue Jackets this evening, so much so that I’m placing 2 different wagers on them tonight.

My Picks: Columbus Blue Jackets -0.5 +145 (Bookmaker.com)
& Columbus Blue Jackets -1.5 +225 (Sportsbook.com)

St Louis Blues @ Nashville Predators

The Blues head into Nashville to take on the Predators tonight.  The teams are 20th and 28th in goals for per game and 8th and 12th in goals against per game this season.  That being said 5 of the Blues last 7 games have gone over 5 goals, with the other 2 finishing with exactly 5.  Nashville on the other hand has gone under 5 in each of their last 3 games, but the 7 games prior to that they have been over 6 times and pushed once.  I’m expecting a tight game tonight with possibly a push if exactly 5 goals are scored, but there should be more.  The great thing about picking over 5 is that if the game finishes 2-2, you automatically hit the push in overtime.

My Pick: Over 5 -130 (Bodog.com)

Colorado Avalanche @ Vancouver Canucks

The Avalanche are on a 4 game winning streak, while the Canucks have lost their last 4.  Yet the Avs are still huge dogs in this one.  The Canucks have not been playing good of late and their last two losses have even come at home.  The Avs have Anderson back in net, in his second game since returning from injury.  He played very well winning his first game back and I expect another solid performance from him.  This is a hot battle for tops in the division and each team should bring their A-game.

My Pick: Colorado Avalanche +155 (Bookmaker.com)

The NHL Betting Tips record took a hit of late and is now holding at (27-26) for -0.33 units on the season.  I feel confident about tonights picks and look forward to being back in the positive tomorrow.

NHL Betting Picks and Predictions November 22

It seems like every nights a busy one in the NHL these days and tonight is no different.  There are 8 games on tap tonight, but I only found two sharp moneyline bets that I will be taking this evening to get back on track.

Boston Bruins +100 (TheSportsbook.com)
Tampa Bay Lightning -110 (Sportsbook.com)

The Bruins are (7-1-0) on the road this season, while the Lightning are just (4-2-1) at home.  With this statistic, right off the bat you would expect the Bruins to be favourites in this matchup, but oddsmakers are still more likely to see the home team as favourite regardless of the teams home vs away records this season.

Rask is getting the start for the Bruins, which could be a reason the Lightning are the favourites.  Rask is (1-4-1) on the season, but he did earn a 41 save shutout in his last outting and will look to continue to get back on track against an offensively skilled Lightning team.  Mike Smith gets the nod for the Lightning tonight.  He is (6-3-0) on the season, but his personal numbers aren’t the greatest: .879 save percentage and 3.38 GAA.

The Bruins are a stronger team than the Lightning and they do not mind playing on the road.  Tuuka Rask hasn’t had his best start to the season, but he has been turning it around of late and I expect him to have another strong performance tonight.

My Pick: Boston Bruins +100

Los Angeles Kings -105 (Bookmaker.com)
Ottawa Senators -115 (Bookmaker.com)

The Kings are (5-5-0) on the road this season, while the Sens are (5-4-0) at home.  Los Angeles was able to break out of a short slump with a 4-3 overtime win against the Bruins on Saturday.  That being said the Kings did give up a 3 goal lead in that game and have not looked at their sharpest over their last few games.  The Sens have played some of their worst hockey of the year losing their last 3 games by a combined score of 17-4.  These three losses were all on the road so the Sens will be eager to return home and get back to their winning ways.

In goal tonight it is Quick vs Leclaire.  Jonathan Quick has had a great season thusfar with an (11-2-0) record in goal, a .935 save percentage and a 1.82 goals against average.  Compare this with Leclaire’s (0-3-1) record, a .872 save percentage and a 3.96 goals against average and you will find that the Kings have a huge edge in goal.  I have watched the majority of Senators games this season and I cringe everytime they put Leclaire between the pipes.  In his time in the NHL Leclaire has only a 35% winning percentage.  The fact that the Sens are on a cold streak, combined with the fact they are playing Leclaire leads me to pick the Kings in this one.

My Pick: Los Angeles Kings -105

The NHL Betting Tips prediction record is now (27-24) for +1.77 units.  Sign up for the newsletter below to receive our exlusive pick every Saturday!
