NHL Betting Predictions February 9th

Columbus Blue Jackets bettingAnother tough overtime loss for me last night.  It’s just one of those things where all of the tight games seem to be going the wrong way for me.  I’m expecting it to even out in the end though.  My season record to date now sits at (100-113) for -10.47 units.

Dallas Stars @ Columbus Blue Jackets

The Stars are still in the hunt for the last playoff spot in the West, but they haven’t been playing like a team that deserves to win it.  The Blue Jackets have won two in a row and are happy to be playing their 2nd game at home after a lengthy 6 game road trip.  The Blue Jackets aren’t as bad as their record indicates and I like them at home tonight against the Stars.

St. Louis Blues @ New Jersey Devils

The Devils have been ridiculously hot, but tonight they are up against a Blues team that can be considered one of the best in the league.  That being said the Blues have not been good on the road this season (9-11-3), but they have been remarkably good against Eastern teams (10-0-2).  I don’t think they’ve played anyone as hot as the Devils though, so I like New Jersey in this one to keep their 5 game winning streak alive.

Montreal Canadiens @ New York Islanders

Sure the Habs have won two games in a row, but I still cannot consider them a good team.  The Islanders on the other hand have been playing some solid hockey and have won 3 of their last 4, all on the road.  They now get to return to Long Island to play a weak team.  I expect them to light it up tonight.

Vancouver Canucks @ Minnesota Wild

The Canucks have won 5 of their last 6 with the only loss coming in a shootout to Detroit.  The Wild on the other hand are without their star player Mikko Koivu and this really hurts the team.  Minnesota has lost two in a row and they are a far different team than the one that was atop the league standings for a while earlier in the season.  I’m surprised the Canucks aren’t bigger favourites in this one, even though they are on the road.
