NHL Betting Predictions November 11th

Senators logoI kept it simple last night and just picked one game out of the lineup that I felt confident in.  Luckily the Panthers did come out with the win, which brings the season to date record to (37-29) for +9.40 units.  I’m excited to get back above the 10 unit mark with tonights plays.

Washington Capitals @ New Jersey Devils

The Caps have struggled significantly of late going losing their last two games and 4 of their last 6.  Ovechkin just hasn’t seemed to be able to get going this season and the Caps are having to rely on their depth to get the job done (which they have plenty of).  The Caps are also only 3-3-0 away from the Verizon Center.  The Devils on the other hand have won 3 straight including 2 tight wins at home (over mediocre teams).  The Caps have the ability to turn their streak around, but the Devils are also a good team who are 4-2-1 at home this season and have as good a shot as the Caps in this one, so the odds are too good to pass up.

Play: Devils +125 (SportsInteraction.com)

Ottawa Senators @ Buffalo Sabres

Daniel Alfredsson is ready to return from his concussion which is a huge factor in my decision to bet on this game.  The Sens are on a four game losing streak, which helped shed some more light on just how important Daniel Alfredsson is to this Senators team (this has been proven for years with other injuries).  The boost of their captain in the lineup should help the Senators in this one and this being the first of a 5 game road trip for the team it is crucial that they get off on the right track and the team will know this.

Play: Senators +175 (SportsInteraction.com)

Carolina Hurricanes @ New York Rangers

The Rangers are on quite a roll winning their last 5 games and they show no signs of slowing down.  The Hurricanes on the other hand have lost 3 straight.  I expect both streaks to continue to night.  Lundqvist and the Rangers will find a way to add this game to their win column.

NHL Betting Predictions November 10th

nhl betting tipsOur single play last night didn’t come through, as the Ducks continued their losing streak even after returning home to play the Predators.  That loss of 1.15 units brings the season record to (36-29) for +8.40 units.  Looking at tonights games I wasn’t able to find many odds that I liked and seeing as I’m on a bit of a cold streak I don’t want to push anything unless I genuinely feel it’s a sharp line.  For this reason there is only one play tonight on this busy Thursday in the NHL.

Florida Panthers @ Winnipeg Jets

I’m starting to believe that the Panthers have a legitimately strong team this year that could battle for a playoff spot down the stretch.  The Panthers are 5-3-0 on the road and they head into Winnipeg to play a Jets team that is 2-2-0 at home, but is a much weaker team all around.  This is a pick’em game at BetOnline.com, but the other sportsbooks I looked at have the Panthers as the favourite.  Jose Theodore gets the start in goal for the Panthers tonight and if Jose can keep playing well the Panthers should be able to battle with any team this season.

NHL Betting Predictions November 9

Anaheim Ducks bettingWe went 1 for 3 last night, but the Home Goals losing was a big loss of 1.75 units.  The Panthers really took it to the Maple Leafs on the road and that was the difference in that wager.  The losses last night bring me below +10 units, but hopefully tonights plays can rectify that.  The record to date is (36-28) for +9.55 units.

Nashville Predators @ Anaheim Ducks

The Predators played a hard fought game in Los Angeles last night so fatigue may play a factor in this one.  Pekka Rinne is back in net and he has been unbelievable this season, which is the main reason why the Ducks aren’t bigger favourites at home against a team playing the second of back-to-backs.  The Ducks have lost five in a row, but these were all at the end of a long 7 game road trip and you can guarantee that the Ducks are happy to be home.  Anaheim’s home record is 3-2-0 this season and they are known as a very good home team even going 26-13-2 at home last season for the second most home wins in the NHL.  Expect the Ducks to put their long road trip losing streak behind them tonight with a win at the Honda Center.

NHL Betting Predictions November 8

Chicago Blackhawks logoThe Bruins and Sharks both came through for us last night giving the home teams a combined win of 10-4 for an easy unit victory.  That brings the season record to (35-26) for +11.22 units on the season.  Tuesdays, which are usually the third best night for NHL games, have come through again with 9 games on deck tonight.

Minnesota Wild @ Calgary Flames

The Minnesota Wild are riding a 4 game winning streak into Calgary, but that streak is mostly thanks to Josh Harding who just won the NHL player of the week award.  Niklas Backstrom is back between the pipes tonight for the Wild, but he is no slouch either with a 2.30 GAA and a .912 save percentage.  The Wild have been finding ways to pull out tight games and the Flames, although they haven’t been bad of late are a sub par team.  The Flames have 4 wins in their last 6 games, but two of these wins came against the Avs, one against a struggling Blues team and one against a struggling Wings team.  This game is going to come down to the wire and the Wild have shown they can win these types of games so far this year.

Play: Wild +115 (5Dimes.com)

Chicago Blackhawks @ St. Louis Blues

The Blackhawks were embarrassed by rivals Vancouver 6-2 on Sunday so they come into this one looking to redeem themselves. The Blackhawks are on their first 2 game losing streak of the season but they will look to turn things around tonight against a struggling Blues team.  The Blues just hired coach Ken Hitchcock and with a new coach one of two things can happen: players can either step up to impress the new coach or the system can fall apart.  The Blackhawks will be ready to go so even if the Blues step up and play like they can this will be a tight game.

Play: Blackhawks -107 (BetOnline.com)

Away Goals vs Home Goals

Of the 9 games in action tonight the home team is favoured 8 times.  This includes a couple of possible blowouts with the Sabres hosting the Jets and the Red Wings hosting the Avalanche.  Expect the majority of games to be close, but if there are any blowouts I expect the Home team to be on the winning side and one or two blowouts should easily win this bet.

NHL Betting Predictions November 7th

nhl betting tipsWe went 0-2 again last night after the Panthers blew a 3-0 lead to lose in a shootout.  The last few plays haven’t turned out, but with NHL betting you will have ups and downs.  So far this season our ups outweigh the downs and I will hopefully snap this cold streak tonight.  It’s a single play that involves both games in action tonight.  Season record to date: (34-26) for +10.22 units.

Away Goals vs Home Goals

This wager turns into the Islanders + Kings vs Bruins + Sharks.  The Bruins have turned it around the last two games, showing the ability to score goals (5 against the Sens and 7 against the Leafs).  The team is still in last place in the East and they know the importance of not losing points to weak teams such as the Islanders.  The Islanders have the ability of pulling out a tight win in this game, but they don’t have the firepower to blow out the Bruins.  In the other game the Kings have had trouble scoring this year so there isn’t much concern with them blowing out the Sharks.  San Jose on the other hand has averaged over 3 goals per game (Kings only 2.15) and they have the top two lines to put up a big score.  If either the Bruins or Sharks pull off a blowout the Home Goals bet will win and there is still the possibility of them both pulling out tight victories.

NHL Betting Predictions November 6th

I was too busy yesterday and didn’t find any time to get up a post on the busy Saturday in the NHL.  Today though there are still four games yet to be played (1 already started) and I like two of the lines.  Friday we went 0 for 2, losing 2 units, which brings the season record down to (34-24) for +12.52 units.  The write ups are short today, like usual on the weekend.

Vancouver Canucks @ Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks have been great at home and the rivalry between these two teams ensures that they will bring their A game.  Expect the Blackhawks to show that they are a superior team this season.

Play: Blackhawks -130 (5Dimes.com)

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Florida Panthers

The Panthers are a much better team than the last few season and they will be a handful for the Lightning tonight.

NHL Betting Predictions November 4th

Senators logoThe Flames and Preds came through for us as dogs so we finished the night 2-1 for +1.55 units, which brings the season long record to (34-22) for +14.52 units!  It’s been a crazy last couple of weeks for my NHL picks and I plan to keep picking winners so continue to check out the site daily.

Montreal Canadiens @ Ottawa Senators

The Habs are on a 3 game winning streak, which includes 2 wins over the defending Stanley Cup Champion Bruins.  A team that defeated the Senators in their last outing.  That being said the Senators are playing in front of their home crowd at the Scotiabank Place tonight where they have been very good so far this season (5-2-0).  The Sens are looking to get back in the win column after their 6 game winning streak came to an end and they will have to do so without captain Daniel Alfredsson.  The Sens have already shown that they can win without their captain, but they will need more from Spezza tonight if they are to win.  I can see this game going either way, but I don’t really understand the Sens as home dogs so I’m taking them tonight.

Play: Senators +106 (BetOnline.com)

Washington Capitals @ Carolina Hurricanes

The Caps were in the news a lot for the benching of Ovechkin in the final minute of their game against the Ducks on Tuesday.  Coach Bruce Boudreau decided to go with the Laich line, which was on fire all night, and it ended up paying off with the Caps forcing overtime and winning the game.  That being said Ovechkin hasn’t been going lately and the Caps had lost their previous two games before pulling that one out.  The Caps are without Mike Green and it seems to be hurting more than most would have anticipated.  The Hurricanes have been good at home (3-1-1) this season and won their Tuesday game at home against Tampa Bay.  This should be a tight game, but I think the ‘Canes will pull it out.

NHL Betting Predictions November 3rd

bet on the Vancouver Canucks NHL gameAnother huge night for us going 2 for 2 with a couple of small underdogs.  Both the Flyers and Coyotes looked in control the whole game and each were able to come out with regulation time wins.  So last night we went 2-0 for +2.29 units, which brings the season long tally to (32-21 ) for +12.97 units.  This kind of a start to the season is better than anything I could have hoped for an I hope to continue providing everyone with winning NHL picks!

Calgary Flames @ Detroit Red Wings

The Wings are currently on a 5 game losing streak and although they aren’t playing badly they are not finding ways to win games.  After a team starts losing games consistently, even when they outplay their opponents (like the Wings did against the Wild their last two games) players start to get anxious and maybe grip their sticks a little tighter.  The Red Wings are an experienced team so this shouldn’t affect them as much, but this doubt will surely be creeping into their minds.  The Flames aren’t a good team, but they still have the ability to win games.  The Flames were on a two game winning streak before giving up 5 early goals to the Canucks in Tuesdays loss.  In that game though the Flames outplayed the Canucks in the 2nd and 3rd and will look to carry that momentum into Detroit.  The Wings are a better team than the Flames, but with their losing streak and the Flames decent play of late (except for the first period of the Canucks game) the odds are just too good to pass up.  I mean how can a team on a 5 game losing streak be by far the biggest favourite of the night?

Play: Flames +180 (SportsInteraction.com)

Vancouver Canucks @ Minnesota Wild

The Wild pulled out two tight games against the Red Wings, but they were outplayed in each and Harding stood on his head.  The Canucks have much more firepower than the Wings and they will be able to score goals.  Which begs the question will the Wild be able to score as well.  I think the answer to that question is no.  The Canucks should outplay the Wild and win this game easily.  Cory Schneider is also the confirmed starter for the Canucks and I for one think he is better than Luongo.

Play: Canucks -128 (5Dimes.com)

Nashville Predators @ Phoenix Coyotes

The Predators are a strong away team, travelling to Phoenix to play a Coyotes team that played last night in Colorado.  Pekka Rinne has played every game for the Preds so far this season and I don’t expect this to change tonight.  The Predators and Coyotes play similar styles and each do it very well, but I think the back-to-back fatigue will have more affect on the Coyotes than playing at home will benefit them.

NHL Betting Predictions November 2nd

nhl betting tipsMikko Koivu picked a great time to get his first goal of the season last night, scoring with just a minute left in regulation to tie the game, which allowed Seto to finish the game in overtime for our huge dog victory to come through.  Our other huge dogs winning streak came to an end in Boston, but the Canucks did as expected and crushed the Flames which brought our day record to (2-1) for +1.8 units.  The season record now sits at (30-21) for +10.68 units.

Philadelphia Flyers @ Buffalo Sabres

The Flyers and Sabres are similar teams that have similar record for the season.  The Flyers bounced back from 2 embarrassing losses to beat the Hurricanes 5-1 last Saturday and they will be well rested and ready to build on their success against a strong team in Buffalo.  The Flyers have an impressive road record of 3-1-0, while the Sabres haven’t been the best at home going 2-3-0 through this point in the season.  Expect a tough battle that could go either way, but the payout is too good not to take the Flyers.

Play: Flyers +119 (5Dimes.com)

Phoenix Coyotes @ Colorado Avalanche

The Avs have not had much success at home this season with a (1-3-0) record.  The Avalanche have cooled off a bit of late going (2-3-0) in their last 5, but they did pull off a big win at home against a strong Kings team in their last outing.  The Coyotes though also beat the Kings in their last game so that fact is a bit of a wash.  Phoenix is 3-0-1 in their last 4 with the only loss coming at home in a shootout to Dallas.  I believe the Avalanche are done with their hot streak and will return to being one of the weaker teams in the league.

NHL Betting Predictions November 1st

Last night the Rangers ended the Sharks 5 game winning streak, which lost us 1.28 units.  The hedge (which was only available for about 20 minutes after my initial post) did not yield any profits either, but as mentioned in yesterdays post it was impossible to lose money.  So, after yesterday the season to date record sits at (28-20) for +8.88 units.  There are a few less games on tap than a typical Tuesday in the NHL, but still 5 to choose from.

Ottawa Senators @ Boston Bruins

The Senators are the hottest team in the NHL having won 6 in a row, while the Bruins have lost 3 in a row and currently sit as the 2nd worst team in the NHL in terms of points.  The Bruins have played most of their games at home and only have a (2-5-0) record to show for it.  That being said the Sens have had most of their success at home this season and currently boast a (2-3-0) road record.  The Senators are without captain Daniel Alfredsson who is out with concussion-like symptoms.  The Sens have managed to win without their captain twice this season, but being without one of their top players should eventually catch up with them.  The odds though heavily favour the Bruins and I can’t bet against the Senators with them on this huge streak where it seems they just cannot lose.  The Bruins on the other hand have been finding ways to lose.

Play: Senators +160 (5Dimes.com)

Minnesota Wild @ Detroit Red Wings

Here is another line where the payout is just too big to pass up against a team that is in a funk.  The Red Wings have lost 4 straight as they come into this second of a home and away against the Wild.  The Wild pulled out a 1-0 victory against Detroit on Sunday and will look to pull out another big win tonight.  Harding is in net again for the Wild and he seemed to have the Red Wings number last game.  This game should be a battle but the odds are too good not to bet the Wild.

Play: Wild +180 (SportsInteraction.com)

Vancouver Canucks @ Calgary Flames

That Canucks are a much better team than the Flames and I expect this to come through in tonight’s game.  This is the first game between the two teams this season and the Canucks will not be happy with their current place in the division and I expect them to dominate this game.  Luongo will be in goal as he tries to improve on his stats this season.
